Hurricane Irma

Okay, Jose is acting weird.

Ask OB about him. Probably on one of his crews.

I just lost power but it came back on 15 minutes later.
Raining very hard and the wind is picking up.

I have a feeling that I will not be sleeping tonight.

How is everybody else doing?

My family is sheltering at home now. We are surrounded by bad drivers with Florida tags. The storm must have been nipping at their heels because all their turn signals don't work.

These same "climate experts" claim they can tell us that the temperature will rise 3/10 of one degree in the next 50 years due to cow farts, yet can't predict where a hurricane will hit the next day when it's spinning below Florida. Right!

Those are EXACTLY the same things. Good catch '72.

Trying to figure out what's taking longer.

Irma moving up the coast of Florida?

Or GA Tech offense coming off the field?

(too soon?)

Perspective... seeing the front edge of Irma's clouds in East TN and she's still dumping on Key West, almost 950 miles away..holy sheesh

I see Septic is online and saw the southern edge of the storm is past him.

You out there? Hitch a ride on a boat with a family and a pair of all the animals on the planet?

Got mixed in with the asses I bet.

J/K. Hope he's safe with minimal damage.

I like the good stories about these storms.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/09/1...ls-are-hauled-off-to-jail-for-protection.html

Mo the Sloth and Kramer the Emu are as innocent as they come, but they're doing time in a county jail.

So are plenty of horses, pigs, goats, sheep, tropical birds, alligators, snakes, turtles and a few other species that the sheriff's office cares for at a farm for abandoned, abused, confiscated or donated animals.

Once the 426 humans who normally occupy cells at the Monroe County Jail were evacuated by bus to lockups in Palm Beach County, there was an opportunity to move 250 animals indoors, rather than leave them exposed to Hurricane Irma's storm surge, flooding rains and pounding wind.

However, this pissed me off, but made me happy at the same time they were rescued.

Authorities in Palm Beach County were being alerted to many animals chained or caged in yards by fleeing owners; these pets have been rescued and will have new homes, they said.

"We are pretty clear when you surrender your animal you give up your rights," Dianne Sauve, the director of Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control, told the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Give me a dog chain and five minutes with some of those fools.

Anyway, thought this was funny.

We made it. Eye went right over where I'm staying as a weak Cat 3.

Lots of damage in the neighborhood but looks like all the houses are intact. Pretty crazy experience.

Seems no matter where a storm hits, people drive like mad just before it hits --

Anyone get the feeling that Irma may not be as bad as forcasted?

And we should be very thankful. I fear that folks will start to take storms like this lightly just because they soooooo lucky on Irma and Matthew, and then there is going to come a storm where millions don't listen..then a epic disaster is really going to happen. This Irma was not a joke to be taken lightly.

This. My wife has a co-worker who lives in Tampa, and she spent all last week talking about how everybody worrying and preparing for the hurricane was just being dumb because nothing bad was going to happen. She didn't stockpile any supplies and just went to her parents' place (also in Tampa) at the last minute to ride it out. Looks like they're going to get lucky, but it's people like this who put EMS crews in danger during disasters like this. Pisses me off.

It's pretty easy to tell who is on the shlt list at the weather channel.

Nah man. If Cantore is in your town you better get the hell out of Dodge. He's the ranking guy who goes wherever the worst weather is.

It is raining hard here. I lost power for a while but it is back on .
Friends and I have been on a group text and most of them are still without power

I hear things hitting the house and the screens have been torn off on the lanai.

Reports of people posing as TECO workers, knocking on doors and forcing their way in. They must have a death wish.

Hang in there.

My lil baby is tucked away safely in the airport garage.

I did take a Chevy Equinox out on the runway at about 6pm last night. Got it all the way up to 50mph before the engine started to sound like it would explode.

You work security at the airport?

Does the weather channel REALLY need reporters to stand out IN the hurricane as they report???

Yes, otherwise it's not as dramatic and entertaining.

I know I'm Monday Morning QBing this thing from my room but it doesn't look like what the Caribbean got hammered with.

It was a fraction of what hit the islands. You can probably thank Cuba for allowing it to make landfall and eating away at it.

I work for the FAA little man.
