I just lost power but it came back on 15 minutes later.
Raining very hard and the wind is picking up.
I have a feeling that I will not be sleeping tonight.
How is everybody else doing?
Mo the Sloth and Kramer the Emu are as innocent as they come, but they're doing time in a county jail.
So are plenty of horses, pigs, goats, sheep, tropical birds, alligators, snakes, turtles and a few other species that the sheriff's office cares for at a farm for abandoned, abused, confiscated or donated animals.
Once the 426 humans who normally occupy cells at the Monroe County Jail were evacuated by bus to lockups in Palm Beach County, there was an opportunity to move 250 animals indoors, rather than leave them exposed to Hurricane Irma's storm surge, flooding rains and pounding wind.
Authorities in Palm Beach County were being alerted to many animals chained or caged in yards by fleeing owners; these pets have been rescued and will have new homes, they said.
"We are pretty clear when you surrender your animal you give up your rights," Dianne Sauve, the director of Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control, told the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Anyone get the feeling that Irma may not be as bad as forcasted?
And we should be very thankful. I fear that folks will start to take storms like this lightly just because they soooooo lucky on Irma and Matthew, and then there is going to come a storm where millions don't listen..then a epic disaster is really going to happen. This Irma was not a joke to be taken lightly.
It is raining hard here. I lost power for a while but it is back on .
Friends and I have been on a group text and most of them are still without power
I hear things hitting the house and the screens have been torn off on the lanai.
Reports of people posing as TECO workers, knocking on doors and forcing their way in. They must have a death wish.
My lil baby is tucked away safely in the airport garage.
I did take a Chevy Equinox out on the runway at about 6pm last night. Got it all the way up to 50mph before the engine started to sound like it would explode.
Does the weather channel REALLY need reporters to stand out IN the hurricane as they report???
I know I'm Monday Morning QBing this thing from my room but it doesn't look like what the Caribbean got hammered with.
This. My wife has a co-worker who lives in Tampa, and she spent all last week talking about how everybody worrying and preparing for the hurricane was just being dumb because nothing bad was going to happen. She didn't stockpile any supplies and just went to her parents' place (also in Tampa) at the last minute to ride it out. Looks like they're going to get lucky, but it's people like this who put EMS crews in danger during disasters like this. Pisses me off.
