Hurricane Irma

Behr, PJ, Septic and even LG.

Stay safe.

Thanks GV.

I knew you were joking earlier that's why I did a quick "hurricane supply list" search and copied and pasted it.

I'm in good shape actually. Like LG, its not my first rodeo. I've been down here in FT. Myers since 97.

I've been through every natural disaster except a volcano. And had to deal with the effects of one of those while in Europe. Hurricanes are still by far the worst one to have to deal with. Not the storm itself, but the aftermath.

There is video of me out there somewhere in the world swinging in a tree in a pair of swim trunks and drunk as a skunk during Hurricane Opal. Hurricane supplies back then was a case of Busch Light, carton of cigs, Spaghetti-O's and a case of MREs swiped from supply.

Haha, been there. Not even gonna describe some of my hurricane party shenanigans, and not just because I can't remember some.

A hurricane hasn't made landfall in Georgia in like what over a 100 years?

Worst storm I've been through was 2001 TS Danielle, Friday after 9-11. It wasn't even a direct hit, it skirted the coast about 50 miles out. Flooded the Island of Estero where I lived and worked.

No kidding? As Sweet Brown once so eloquently stated, "Ain't nobody got time for that."

Yeah, think we are planning on sticking it out. Have a pretty safe place to go in an emergency if it gets dicey.

Stay safe.

Didn't know you were down here, Behr.

Might have missed it earlier, you guys sticking around or getting out?

and maybe a few tornadoes - which I hate

One of the hurricanes a few years back (may have been Katrina) had bands come up our way. We got some powerful storms from it, whichever one it was. I remember on the news in Atlanta they said the airport had measured gusts of 70 mph.

Ivan came straight up Alabama

Obviously I still don't know what to expect, but I'm here for the duration no matter what. I have no chirrens so I always stay. Never know if I might be some help to someone.

Went to Sam's Club today at 2:30 PM and waited 45 minutes for gas. Traffic was heavy as businesses let employees out early to prepare.
Publix was out of water, peanut butter, tuna, etc. though I hear that they will be getting deliveries tomorrow. I am going to go to Walmart at 6:00 AM tomorrow for more water and supplies.

My parents home was obliterated during Hurricane Andrew so I have learned to take this seriously. We have been fortunate here in Tampa as we have not been hit since 1921.

Or you could just say "thanks for the concern guys. I appreciate it."

Not my first rodeo either when it comes to hurricanes, yet this one should be very concerning.

People get a false sense of security just because they've been through a hurricane before.

But this is the strongest hurricane ever in the Atlantic. Not a regular storm... Winds right now are pushing 190. That levels buildings. Granted it will likely not be that strong when/if it hits Florida, but could still do some serious damage.

Models seem to have it moving to the east. Best case scenario for west coast.

Hope it's not off Island Park Rd., those folks are still soggy.

Funny you mention that. Friend in college rented a place off Island Park and I was over there all the time. Those people are still underwater, not looking good for them.

The Forest Golf Club had 4' of water inside the clubhouse last week.

I'm in Pensacola, trying to convince the girlfriend that we are safe over here. She's wanting to bail immediately. GFS seems to be pretty certain Irma will turn north sooner rather than later, so I'm expecting just to catch extra rain but not much else.

GFS is also a great place to buy ribs for the smoker.
