Guadalupe which is probably over a hundred miles from the eye of the storm

The hurricane hunter plane NOAA2 recorded a wind measurent over 210 mph (that's like an EF5 tornado)

That Barclays comment could well be an understatement. A Cat 5 just inside the east coast of Florida, say by 30 to 50 miles, riding up to the cape or Jax, could easily be several hundreds of billions. Easily.

Yep..it is the nightmare scenario. It is times like this that make me glad I'm not in Florida anymore. 2004 was rough on my nerves

We're going to crystal river/honeymoon island in a month, if there's no hurricane.

My goodness. Barbuda is about to be right in the bullseye in the next few hours.

Went to Sam's Club today at 2:30 PM and waited 45 minutes for gas. Traffic was heavy as businesses let employees out early to prepare.
Publix was out of water, peanut butter, tuna, etc. though I hear that they will be getting deliveries tomorrow. I am going to go to Walmart at 6:00 AM tomorrow for more water and supplies.

My parents home was obliterated during Hurricane Andrew so I have learned to take this seriously. We have been fortunate here in Tampa as we have not been hit since 1921.

A storm like this hitting Tampa Bay is the absolute worst case scenario imo.

The islands in the path are going to get destroyed. Much of their residential "construction" is mish-mash at best, and they don't have the modern infrastructure that we enjoy. Very sad.

Any chance this thing skirts into the Gulf?

Yeah. I don't think there is any good outcome for this thing, unless maybe it loses strength by running into mountainous Cuba and fizzles out. However, if it goes into the Gulf it will just kick up again with all that warm water.

Fake news. That video is Hurricane Otto hitting Bocas del Toro in 2016. Likely a tornado inside the hurricane.
