I'm sure it is all paid for, I was just making the point that a person on scholarship holds up their end of the bargain, whether it be football, academic, music etc., or they lose their scholarship because they are no longer performing at the level established to them receiving the scholarship. In this case, Jalen decides he doesn't want to play football anymore therefore he shouldn't have the privilege of attending the University of Tennessee.

ADs can yank a scholly for most any reason they want immediately. Most let kids complete a semester out, but if Im Hart/Jones, I had his things placed outside on the grass evicted from all facilities of the AD last night, No meals, no student assistants for study, no nothing other than books and tuition already paid for were it me, total persona non grata. This young man has been too coddled for too long only as an observer from the outside.

Oh and at UT kill any parking or parking pass he may have had, fun and games young Jalen.

I'm OK with him finishing this term on scholarship...the school needs to take the higher road...

He quit on his mates DURING a game. He is no longer a Vol. I hope he finds some happiness in all this, but I could give a damn where he goes from here. No one player is bigger than the University. Good luck to him, but he might as well be a Gator now.

Yes. That is about the only thing that makes logical sense, but it is still a stupid idea.

Since the semester is paid for, I don't see the point in denying him the chance to finish out the semester. I'm sure it won't be comfortable for him attending class with all this spotlight...if we need some kind of retribution justification. Kinda makes the academic institution look like not much so...football tail wagging the dog? He wasn't EXPELLED. Start charging him next semester if he doesn't start preparing for the NFL.

His playing football is not a condition of being a student in good standing. He has to be a student in good standing in order to play football.

Even if they wanted him gone, they can't force him out as a student simply because he isn't playing football.

If he plans to transfer, he has to maintain his academic standing. He has to actually get admitted into the school he plans to play for.

Or, if he's going to declare, he might not care. He would have to unenroll himself. He could just as easily stop going to class and leave. It's so late in the semester, he gets Fs either way. If he just left, the school wouldn't know the difference until he didn't register for classes next semester.

As long as he's off the roster and away from the team, I have no problem with it, but if he seeks to stir things up in any way, shape or form, he needs to move on now.

Maybe he can latch onto a CFL team for 3 weeks before the season ends :)

A transfer can practice when he/she is sitting out a year, yes? If that's the case, and Hurd truly wants to become a TE, then a off year might work to his advantage. He can gain weight and learn the TE position on the practice field and then be ready for the following year. Even that is problematic, though, has he'd probably want an assurance of playing TE, and he'd also have to find the right situation--a decent team that needs a TE, and whose coaches think he's worth bringing in to try and play the position, and whose coaches will want to throw the ball as much or more than run it, as I doubt Hurd is going to want to spend most of his time blocking. There's also no guarantee that he'll be a good TE. There is a lot of risk in this move by him.

Too late to drop/add classes so he better stick around and finish out the semester or he could have some academic problems getting into other schools. Since, he's not eligible to play next year anyway, this may not be as important but it will cause him additional headaches to drop the courses and get all F's.

Going back to my mistake earlier. You cannot transfer down to "1AA" and play right away if you don't have 2 years eligibility remaining. Wasn't aware of that rule myself until this morning.

I thought that his was part of his plan? Finish this year healing, spend the next year getting better/stronger at his new position. Then unveiling his new look for scouts in 2018.
