I'm sure it is all paid for, I was just making the point that a person on scholarship holds up their end of the bargain, whether it be football, academic, music etc., or they lose their scholarship because they are no longer performing at the level established to them receiving the scholarship. In this case, Jalen decides he doesn't want to play football anymore therefore he shouldn't have the privilege of attending the University of Tennessee.
Had no idea about this, and SIAP, but I read this on TOS this morning (per Brent Hubbs):
"I thought Hurd could transfer down and be eligible next fall. But that's not the case. Because he only has one year of playing eligibility he would have to sit for a year anywhere he goes using his redshirt year and then play in 2018.
There's no way he can play anywhere in 2017.
My guess is that he ends up declaring for the draft."
All I can say is...wow.
He got a concussion in the Georgia game. The poor performances was due as to not being 100%.
So the whole Hurd saga has been engineered to distract us from talking about the coaching situation? Now that is one of the more intriguing conspiracy theories ever.
He's a RB that wants to be a WR/TE now. If you don't play him in the formation/position he wants you get the Vol74 treatment in the media. You sure an NFL org wants to take that on with a draft pick? I can see free agency at this point maybe a late round at best. His negatives right now seems to outweigh his pluses seems to me. Time will tell.
He'll transfer to a Div II school and play TE. Then go to a Div 1 school. He'll look great in Div 2 and be so-so in Div 1. That gives him 2 years to repair his reputation before the NFL.
the NFL is very aware of his attitude and it will be a factor in if he is drafted. Said I wouldn't be surprised if drafted but also no surprise if not.
He can't do that. Since he's a junior he only has one year left (and he isn't a grad transfer) he would have to sit out a year (use his redshirt) and then play his final year.
No way he gets drafted. The NFL doesn't value the position like it once did. There are several guys on draft boards higher than Hurd. Those who were not higher than Hurd, probably surpassed him with his recent antics. He will be lucky to make a practice squad.
Think it over....maybe he didn't think he was going anywhere. IF much of what I've read has any truth to it...1st CBJ was gonna dismiss or suspend him for his antics in UGA game and 2nd his tirade on practice field about cussing at coach and throwing ball at coach. This could get deep but I doubt it but don't put it past some to start some shat to get Jones closer to the hot seat. CBJ apparently, after SC game and antics there put it to a team vote. My opinion is he was really run off and the transfer story is just to pretty it up. A kid in grammer school should be able to fiqure out that he'd taken more appropiate steps before even thinking about transferring. A pretty bad set of circumstances that he's unprepared for. Should be some medical reports somewhere confirming some of this stuff IMO.And that's dicey at best for him. His draft stock as a running back is very low and even though he is a great athlete who catches the ball with great natural ability IMO, that's still gonna be a difficult transition to TE. He's in no man's land right now if he declares.
It's difficult to know what the kid is thinking and all the emotions messing with him.....and I understand 100% that he's ready to be done and wants away from Butch and the team/program.....I've been there with jobs/places of employment.
But damn, he just needed to tough it out for 5 more games, about 2 more months. Sounds like his mother and family disagreed with him leaving now, but somebody should've been able to get through to him with how much money he's likely to lose by handling it like this. Jmo.
