Too late to drop/add classes so he better stick around and finish out the semester or he could have some academic problems getting into other schools. Since, he's not eligible to play next year anyway, this may not be as important but it will cause him additional headaches to drop the courses and get all F's.
Maurice Clarett was built like a prototypical running back and had supremely more talent. He completely wasted his career and talents
REALLY? Why waste a thread on this? This is personal to Hurd and his family. He apparently has made his decision to leave UT and I thank him for his contributions and wish him well in his future endeavors. Sounds like team 120 has reportedly made the decision to move on and IMO, so does VN.
Had no idea about this, and SIAP, but I read this on TOS this morning (per Brent Hubbs):
"I thought Hurd could transfer down and be eligible next fall. But that's not the case. Because he only has one year of playing eligibility he would have to sit for a year anywhere he goes using his redshirt year and then play in 2018.
There's no way he can play anywhere in 2017.
My guess is that he ends up declaring for the draft."
All I can say is...wow.
Do you think he still has a shot at the NFL? I'm not sure he does but maybe some team will take a chance on him.
What do you mean we don't know what's going on? We know he quit the team with 4 games left to play. That's plenty.
He's a RB that wants to be a WR/TE now. If you don't play him in the formation/position he wants you get the Vol74 treatment in the media. You sure an NFL org wants to take that on with a draft pick? I can see free agency at this point maybe a late round at best. His negatives right now seems to outweigh his pluses seems to me. Time will tell.oh I would fully expect him to get an opportunity at the NFL. I'm not an NFL fan and just casually keep up with UT players but I would never be able to figure out what drives NFL teams. His physical size and accomplishments will certainly cause someone to take a chance on him.
He has not done nearly what Clarett did and he was drafted. So Hurd being drafted sure would not surprise me.
He can go to FCS and play next year, or if he can graduate before next Fall he can play anywhere as a graduate transfer.
This is one of the worst decisions. I can't help but feel bad for Hurd. If he would have played with intensity this year he breaks the record and probably gets drafted.
Instead he gives poor performances, quits the team, and more than likely will end up not drafted.
