Hunter has checked out? (merged)

...especially when you have the kind of measurables that Hunter has. A freak injury like that is very hard to overcome psychologically.

You guys need to take your common sense and rationality out of this thread.

It's real easy to just ignore it and catch the ball. Why do you think everyone gets D1 scholarships to do it? It is super easy. Just catch the ball. No psychology involved.

So it is simple. For JH to be good again he needs to:

1) Quit being a puss
2) Grow some balls
3) Catch a ball

Its quite simple. There are no other external factors. I learn so much on VN.

So easy...a caveman can do it.

Guys I'm not pleased with Hunter's play either, but is it really called for to call him a puss? He'd whop anyone's butt up and down the strip on this board. He's still wearing that orange power T guys lets show some support!

So if Hunter grabs that one pass that he short armed last week, only to get blasted and injured, would that have been good?

I am 200% sure everyone complaining wouldn't have even left their feet. I'm 300% sure that all of you would have been eyeing the defender hoping to not have your helmet laying on the ground next to you.

Not in our family. :eek:lol: . He needs to worry about whupping a corner and getting open. Then catch it and run towards the "cheggerboards". Start with that.

Quite honestly I love Hunter and his attempt to make something happen but I don't see him getting paid big dollars right now. He has the measureables but needs strength training and focus. His deep threat potential has certainly been diminished by his lack of playing time due to injury.

The only guys on our team ready to play in the NFL right now are James and Thomas. EVERYONE else needs to play at a pro level before going pro. CP is a pro retuner. Not there at wideout yet however. As a fan I want them all back to make a run. But as a realist if any if them get half a chance, get paid son. But make the leap worth it. Hightower could have came back. 2nd round or even late first ain't worth it if you can do better with a great senior year.

Agree 100% and a run is certainly a possibility IF we get a big time running back and the team to return.Take the blinders off as the blowouts are gone, now time to finish games and punish folks. Look at LSU-USCe and that is exactly what LSU did to win.

Unless you get hurt your senior year and then you possibly get 0 round money.

With a knee injury already, that is what JH is afraid of happening this year. A career ending knee injury. It is messing with his mindset. By playing defensively and playing to not get hurt- it is hurting his draft stock because he isn't playing to win.

Just my :twocents:

Ya, Hunter critics need to lay off of him. Especially if y'all want him to even consider him coming bck next year.

Can you blame him?

As far as draft stock in concerned: see Jamal Lewis

That was just my two as well. How high are you going to go if you are not a dominating player? AJ & JJ were clearly top 5 picks as juniors in my mind. Is JH this year? There are arguments for 4 or 5 guys at the top. Which diminishes the value of any particular one. Certainly one coming off a serious injury with no real production in big games (so far of course, could change in these next two weeks). This could end up like KW draft situation. Look like a top 5 pick as a frosh. Hurt as a soohomore. Non-descript junior year. Mid level draft choice followed. Those spots at the top are not locked in yet. Still being earned at this point. To early to coast imo.

I hope you are not serious. No way I would take a receiver in the first round that has proven NOTHING, except he is scared to be hit. Playing like a wounded girl. FACT

Nfl scouts are more forgiving than idiot fans. So yes I'm serious, and yes he will be. Fact

Yep...especially if his NFL Combine performance differentiates between his season's performance and actual skill set.

Not their situations...

Jamal Lewis was the best back that year. He knew it. Shaun Alexander was the only other choice. This year Hunter has not owned the top spot at receiver. For whatever reason. Some have anointed him on this site but the reality is there are a few guys who are playing at least as well or better, and with no serious injury. This cruise control may be premature. Three scores against Bama and South Carolina and he can take the rest of the season off.

As of right NOW...as you state your case...Justin Hunter is projected as the best WR on the draft board. Your point is invalid.

Furthermore, Jamal Lewis had tons of critics his Jr year...he was running out of bounds and hitting the ground after shoe string tackles. I remember some of the fan base turning on him, just as some are now with Hunter. It's seems more intense with the inclusion of social media, but I recall sports radio, bar talk and friendly Vol talk being heavily critical of Jamal Lewis' playing not to get hurt.

FREE!? Last time I checked they were getting a full college education, plus housing and meals, for their time on the field that they can take with them AFTER the NFL and use to support their family for the rest of their lives, something not everyone is given.... Perspective?!

You do realize that the type of earnings a typical college degree affords a person are chump change compared with those of a top-flight NFL WR? He could spend 10 years in the NFL and if he's smart with his earnings, never work another day in his life and provide for future generations of his family. Seems like it would be a no-brainer to do everything in his power to make the second option a possibility.

You should be 400% sure that noone here is a D1 receiver with NFL talent...but he is. Enough said. I would take so many receivers over him right now, Darick and CP included.

His point is not invalid.. as an NFL scout.. would you want a guy that dosent produce? that is he isnt the 1st option in passing he jogs his route.. cant catch a 3rd down pass to keep the drive alive on multiple ocasions..? the answer is no.. lets be realistic here..

There are wideouts who could push Hunter down in this draft. Lewis was the back to have in that draft. Hunter has no such assurances. I'd say our NFL hopefuls should show what they have in the next two games.
