i would give my all including my body for a win for tennessee. you people on this board don't understand. most never will. he is not playing the game for free. he should be getting an education while he can, his scholarship is paying for him to be at tennessee, he could at least catch crucial balls that can help us win some big games. instead of being stone hands and a puss.

If you honestly think that him giving 110% and possibly getting hurt again while playing for free is more important than keeping his health intact so he can provide a great life for his family in the future, then clearly it is you who doesn't understand. From the sound of things you probably never will. "Well, it sucks that JH got hurt and now won't be able to make millions in the NFL, but at least he caught that crucial pass and UT won." That's literally what you're saying matters more to you, and it's ridiculous.

Nobody is arguing that point. We all agree.

What we don't agree with is the OP posting a ridiculous thread taking a low blow at JH's family (balls like he had when he got that woman pregnant??) and then wishing for him to get hurt in practice.

Family is #1. Period. If you have children and they aren't #1 in your life, you are a terrible parent. Period.

And yes.. I used the "." symble and said period. Because I'm cool like that. Period.

I'm sorry- I don't post often. But you are an idiot.

So say JH "gives his body" for a win. They beat Bama but then say he blows out his knee again. Career ending. No NFL.

Are you going to pay his mortgage? Are you going to put his kid through college? No. The NFL is a way for him to provide a lifestyle for his family and secure a future not just for him but for his CHILD.

He has to be in a tough spot. On one hand, JH I am sure wants to be the guy to lead TN to a win over Bama tomorrow. But on the other, he doesn't want to get hurt because if he does- kiss that million-dollar security blanket goodbye.

I don't think he is actively going out there thinking "I'm going to be a puss today like that guy govols105 said about me on VN!". I don't think he is going out there saying "Don't get hurt don't get hurt don't get hurt". What I do think is happening is that he feels the pressure from both sides weighing on him. The pressure of winning and the pressure of providing for his family.

It is a lot for anyone, much less a college kid.

Hunter has been a model citizen by all accounts. Anybody can earn and lose their money, but I doubt it happens to Hunter.

here at tennessee and in my eyes you are remembered as a player by how you did on the field and off. on first comes into play second. a very close second. even if you do bad i will still thank you for your contributions to tennessee and wish you the best. but still. it's just the way it is.

I am sure your "thank yous" will put his mind at ease now. He will be grateful to know if he gets hurt he will have your thank yous to tuck him in at night and send his kid to college.

I don't think you are grasping the concept of paternal instincts and taking care of your family. I hope you are just a kid and are speaking from a lack of maturity. If not, I pray for your offspring.

Mo Couch didn't have an injury like JH. Mo Couch isn't going to get paid as much as JH.

JH's mindset is a bit jacked and he is playing, as another poster described, timid. It isn't an intentional thing. He is concerned with not repeating that injury, blowing his future earnings, etc.

If JH does not get hurt last year, he doesn't play like this. The mind is a powerful weapon- that can also be used against you.

That is absolutely dead on. I applaud him for taking responsibility. However, I also believe that he owes it to himself and his team to say, "Coach, I can't go 100%" if he can't. He can take his chances in the NFL combines and probably do very well for himself. I would certainly hope that he is a big-time NFL success. However, he is in college and unless he will go 100% he should take the same responsibility and say so. At his best, he is one of the best. At less than that there are other options.

With his knee...I don't think there is any way to tell if he is or isn't giving 100%.

There have been times that his knee injury seems to have impacted the length of his arms. (Trust me, it would probably do the same thing to me!)

Again...it is obvious that he lacks overall confidence. That affects your hands tremendously. He has never been a physical receiver. Look no further than the UK game last year to show how much easier this offense is to contain.

Tennessee fans did the same thing to Jamal Lewis...and I think it is ridiculous.

Hunter certainly has developed a set of alligator arms this year. Maybe staying in school to get an education (long term family plan) and postpone the NFl for a year is the best option for him? Certainly up to him to decide, we can only speculate, but he isn't doing himself a lot of good right now with his spotty play. CP has come in and taken over the #1 WR role from Hunter.

lot of panty wearers on here. op just said go play, don't think about the nfl, think about your service to tennessee. and catch the damn ball when it's thrown to you. super secret team meeting said lathers told team if your not playing hard i will take you out. play hard or lathers takes you out. no problem with it.

Hunter has kids? Nothing is more dumb than college students having kids. Good grief. You need brains and balls to succeed in life.

I'm all for the free expression of ideas.....but this is hilarious.

Justin Hunter has never been a physical receiver. He is a year removed from the most freak knee injury I've ever seen. He is little timid, but can you imagine what this offense would look like without him?

And replaced by a guy who actually makes catches? Certainly. Probably look a lot better. Maybe even good enough to come out and score in the first half and not play from behind all season long. Might win a game for once. If he is so good he "could" quit, he should quit. Give the spot to someone who wants to beat Bama. Not someone who has checked the **** out til Pro Day. Some/all of these kids are here to just be drafted. But if they are not a winner in college they most likely wont be a winner in the pros. Hard to "flip a switch". Has to be a constant effort. Maybe he shows up this week and fights for "his"team. Maybe he still has it on cc. Wont know til Saturday night. That is the hard part for the fans. We are not sure about the make up of our lead guys. It's getting better, but still flaky. At midseason.
