At this point Fulmer's going to do what the money tells him to do, thus keeping his job.NCAA issues. Its Fulmer!
Why?
Lets go back to 2004 and the recruitment of Michael Oher. Oher was a big target for Fulmer and Tennessee. Back then, Fulmer pulled anyone he wanted out of Tennessee.
Freeze was the HC at Briarcrest, where Oher played. Regardless of what you saw in the movie, The Blind Side, Oher was already an established football player that didnt need to be taught by Leigh Anne Touhy how to block.
Now, it is understood that Freeze has always wanted to coach at Tennessee.
Now the nexr is pure speculation on my part. Lets say Freeze approaches Fulmer with the option of " I get hired, you get Oher"? Fulmer refuses because he knows it could be a possible recruiting violation
Enter the Touhy's. They are both boosters for Ole Miss and they hate Tennessee. They are also Oher's adoptive parents. Oher ends up at Ole Miss and Freeze ends up getting hired at Ole Miss. Hence, my speculation in the paragraph above
If that were the case, then there is no way Fulmer would hire him
IMO, Fulmer would have to go as well for Freeze to be hired at UT
Kaidon Salter with our WRs and stable of tailbacks in a Malzahn system....talk about points on the board.I'll take a head football coach that wins 8-10 games every season and has beaten Nick Saban three times.

...Four years ago, the SEC presidents voted to approve a rule where if a school wanted to hire a coach in any sport that had received a show cause or had been found to have committed NCAA Level 1 violations, the school would have to apply to the Commissioner for approval to hire that person...
Liberty fan stopping by. Something that hasn’t been mentioned is the buyout for Freeze at Liberty is reportedly 10-12 million. For Pruitt and staff to be let go and to buyout Freeze you’re looking at 25 million plus. TN just finished paying Butch off. I don’t see that happening. Everyone at TN thinks it’s a done deal if offered, but Freeze has a good thing going at Liberty. Makes 3 million a year, not nearly the pressure of an SEC job and his family loves it in Lynchburg. He recently said he misses some things about coaching in the SEC, but there’s just as much that he doesn’t miss.

As a follow up... Auburn hired BP after his dealings here. All they got was something UT has NEVER done... a Final Four. Oh... those poor Aubbies. This is EXACTLY the type of self handcuffing that has gotten UT in this situation back when Kiffin left. If decision makers at UT are basing decisions off of what may be considered "a bad look"... they shouldn't be in that position in the first place. Period. What EVERYONE needs to understand is that you make decisions based on what's BEST for the program. NOT what's best for "perception." SCREW perception. You make a hire to WIN!!! Even if that hire has a questionable past. Winning will solve EVERYTHING! And who cares what other "programs" or the "media" thinks? WHO. CARES? Do what's best for UT moving forward or GTFO!
