I am convinced no change is imminent. UT is tone-deaf to it's customers, alumni, and fans. Fulmer has some type of chokehold on the AD and Administration. It's crash and burn time.

If you thought the last 3 years were bad, just wait. The worst part won't be the losing...it'll be the national attention our ineptitude will bring.

But hey...at least the coach-followers will be happy.

Change was never going to come. People allow their emotions to cloud their judgement sometimes. Nothing UT’s administration has done in the past 10-15 years warrants them all of a sudden making intelligent decisions. So why would they start now?

I’m worried the powers that be aren’t doing the math when needing to hire assistants to replace those leaving and if we bring Pruitt back next year and it crashes and burns and we fire him then we’ll have to pay those new assistant buyouts as well who won’t be on a 1yr contract

If might be cheaper to cut bait and hire a new coach now

That makes it even more likely this failed experiment goes on past next year. This is where I am and what I fully expect to happen. Garbage football, and governmental level mismanagement is here to stay.

Pruitt needs to be fired before we lose anymore players/recruits. Stop the bleeding or there'll be hell to pay.

Do you believe that we will lose more players if he stays than if we run him off? What is the basis for that? It is often pointed out that recruiting is a relationship business, and I have to believe it carries on to some extent after they get here. More prone to leave, especially in the current move toward easier transfer, to follow their original guy, or to wherever their second most trusted guy is if the new coaches staff or scheme does not seem like a fit. Risks of loss are different now than ever before.

I think TN would consider Freeze if Pruitt was fired, but I have maintained all along that I don't see it happening this season with COVID and the extension. Hopefully some coaching changes along with better QB play will be the medicine this teams needs to win 8-9 games or more in 2021. But my faith in JP is certainly the lowest it's ever been.

We took a shot on Pearl and lost, we took a shot on Tyndall and lost, we took a shot on Kiffin and lost, why would the money guys step up for another demonstrated character optional guy?

Pearl gave us a lot of fun years and basically resurrected this program from the dead. I doubt Barnes is here if Pearl had not made this an attractive job.

Because he's shown he can put a team on the field that will compete with and occasionally beat the big boys in the SEC and we're sick of being Vandy's competition for the cellar in the SEC? Plus he's at Liberty and wants the job?

I just don't see it as a possibility that these guys will risk their reputations on a guy that left UM in big trouble. If Peyton or a bunch of high profile Vols would endorse just his consideration then maybe. I don't see these guys entrusting a family member to his care. There are other options to win at all costs. Do you have any information that says any of the big money guys are in his court or any other serious candidate? If they had we would be in a different place today. I have not seen a line at his door from others already in the market. and I SUSPECT that there are NCAA or SEC advisory messages involved concerning institutional control issues if you take the risk and he fails under the expected watchful eye of both organizations. But if you have hard info I will certainly listen. I will be sad that we would go that route but accept I am out of touch.

I don't think recruits commit to a university simply for a coach and his staff. I do believe there are coaches out there that could maximize the potential of the current players on the roster, and the roster for next year. If it were me, the only way I'd come to Knoxville is if there was a coaching change. Nobody wants to come here and get beat like a drum by the likes of UK, or the usual suspects in UF, UGA, Bama every single year.

Because Freeze, from all accounts, has rehabilitated his career and character while at Liberty. Of the guys you listed only Freeze is worth taking a chance on.

What part of signing an extension and then shopping for a new job wreaks of character improvement? One stint at a lower tier, not even fighting for the same tier recruits does not provide an all clear... maybe a trend, and I hope he has. I would have thought that Pearl would have avoided issues like the plague too.

Where has it been stated that Freeze is shopping g for a job? From everything I have heard he has said he is happy at Liberty.

On this site It has been stated multiple times that he would for example walk over hot coals to get the UT job, and that would be by Freeze fans. Also things like he has let it be known that UT is his dream job. I don't think I made any of that up.

If our AD screws this up AGAIN by being the most inept, late to the table loons, my excitement for this football program will be lower than ever.

This is what happened with Lane Kiffin. USC offered the job to numerous coaches. When they were shunned by all of them they turned to Kiffin who ended up leaving Tennessee for the job. I’d bet Hugh Freeze has always been in Auburn’s back pocket.
