Memphis started by systematically coordinating a nationwide search for an AD with a highly regarded search firm. Once he was in place, they did the same for Fuente and Norvell. They learned with the Porter hire that bigger resources are necessary to find a game changer.

The next big coach is out there. We don't know who he is but the people who make their living placing leaders do.

We should swallow our pride and take notes from Memphis. Unfortunately, I predict Memphis will do it again after Norvell leaves and we'll be having this same discussion after our next bust.

I interviewed Andy Holt?s wife once, and she said something similar about how the powers that be decided to pick leaders for the university after her husband retired. I can?t say specifically what. She asked me to turn off the tape recorder.

This one is easy... David Williams is black... he goes to the black coaches meeting every year and has his pick of any up and comer

I remember feeling sorry for Candy at such an embarrassing hire... Like the worst hire in the history of sports... Now, it's looking like Mason will have a 2 game winning streak on Butch.

Mason engine leaking oil badly after first three wins.. engine may blow by end of season.

The problem with the bolded part... they hired Kiffin. There isn't a “Dorks Only Policy” being enforced. We’ve just had some really bad AD’s who made really bad hires. It’s as simple as that.

First off, Mason is terrible and soon to be fired...as for franklin, just good luck.

So much of this is luck..bama has saban because rich rod turned down the job.

In retrospect, it's sad/funny that we hired BJ given he was the head coach of one of the few teams DD had beaten - and badly.

If I remember correctly, we had probably already struck out on big time hires and BJ was what was left on the bench to consider.

That is a bad string of hires for whatever the reason.

This board would implode if a coach with their background were to be named our new head coach. Franklin I believe was hired by vandy when he was passed over at Maryland.
Mason had been successful defense coordinator at Stanford. Neither would have been considered by the people who post here. Shows how little we know.

I guess we would hire the coach at directional Louisiana who beat Sabin over Sabin. We had better players than cinn. When Dooley won. Should we rehire Dooley?
