How much more can Hype do to get Milton right?

i think hell be fine. his first play was on the money.. a little more effort on reciever its a TD.. Second play well it is what it is... not gonna bash the kid, he has a howlitzer for arm
And a brain the size of a peanut!

I honestly hope he rests Hooker this Saturday. With our OL in the shape, it is in, I don't see us having a chance. It will be a good week to heal up our injuried players.

It does seem that the offense that Hype runs may be a little slow for him. He has a chance here to slow it down if he starts. Most fans are done with him, for my occasion, if he starts Saturday I’ll give him this one last chance to correct it. If he doesn’t, then I’m done. If he doesn’t, then I say let’s get some thru the transfer portal and be done.
I guess I look at it from the standpoint that he's not a freshman where the game is too fast for him. He's got a fair amount of D1 game experience and at a high level. It's possible that it just takes longer for some players, but one would assume by now that it would have slowed a bit and we'd see some signs of progress. Like I said, he's following JG so it's really hard to imagine a sequel with Milton...at least with the fan base. Heupel might and probably does see things differently. He's truly gifted physically. If the light does come on for him, the sky is the limit for a guy with his tools. Just doubt it happens here.

Joe Milton is a disaster. With reports of teammates being unhappy with the last play of the game. Do you really think they rally around him? Cade Mayes hobbled on basically one foot giving his all for Tennessee. Milton couldn’t get out of bounds fast enough to avoid contact Saturday night. He should NEVER see the field again. Hell even JG would take a hit or sacrifice himself for the team. NOT Milton. Doesn’t deserve to wear the Orange IMHO.

As a qb you have it or you don’t. Hard to access what it is but over the course of a couple of games you notice it. And Milton most certainly doesn’t have it. He reminds us all of Jg. Getting sacked from behind when he should’ve felt the pressure, errand passes, running when there’s no lane, throwing when there’s wide open lanes to throw, checking down at the wrong time, taking a deep shot at the wrong time, and overthrowing the hell out of everyone is pretty much how I’d sum him up.

I have a feeling he will start against Bama, so my question is, can Hype give him more advice during practice this week? Can he actually pull the trigger on his arm to get that ball to the receivers downfield without over shooting them. How much more can Hype do to get this corrected in practice? He is probably going to have to really practice starting today and a lot more trying to get it right. Man, I love his arm, but if he could just throw it accurately, he would be a superstar. I said he would be starting this week, because it’s just that feeling you know? If he does, is this his last chance to get it right in practice? Does he know this? Do we pull for him to get it right one last time if he starts?
Milton might as well have carried his scholarship out of bounds with him with 0:00 left on the clock down by 5. It does not matter who or what position you are you sell your soul and put your body on the line for the end zone. He has no business on the field at all ever. It was the most disgusting thing I saw in that 4 hour game

No, he isn’t a freshman anymore. His experience should be showing what he can do now. Hype may still have have confidence in him, and not giving up to easily, like most of us have. I understand that a coach/coaches can do so much to teach, but he has got to be willing to give as well.

I would be cool with Milton (really no choice) if he had chucked it into the end zone or fought as hard as he could to run it into the end zone - yeah, he tried...

...but to step out of bounds? His heart isn't in it. Not cool with me.

I know, that's exactly my point. He was only in 30 seconds or so, but up to the last play he played well enough for us to win. All he had to do was the really obvious thing.

I'm pretty sure he didn't bother to glance at the clock prior to that last snap. If he had known there were only 3 seconds left, I'm pretty sure he chunks it in the end zone. Any good will he might have built with the previous 2 plays is just gone.

Even after he looked at the clock...and you can see him do this on the replay, at least try to run it the rest of the way. He had almost no chance of making it, but he could at least have tried. Or even try a lateral. Instead he just gave up.

I guess if he starts against bammer, which he quite likely will, he will have a shot at redemption, but he has dug a very deep hole.

Hard to argue with that.

Having said that, he may well start vs bammer if Hooker can't go. Which at least gives him a shot at redemption. He is in such a deep hole that he might never make up for that play, but if he has a great game against bammer and we keep it respectable I'll at least feel better about his future prospects.

I know a lot of fans feel this way. It was frustrating when he ran out of bounds like that. I wonder if CH is going to start him. Like I’ve said, I just have a feeling that he gets the nod Saturday. This is going to be a decision that he is really going to have to think about right up till kickoff. I wonder what is going through the coaches head with this right now? Where does he go with this? I’m sure he is aware of the fans by now with Milton. That makes it tough on him, because I think he is trying to do the right thing, and he is a quarterbacks coach. We will see.

If he could be fixed, he'd already be fixed.

I have zero hope for a guy that has been playing football at the highest levels for as long as he has, and runs the ball out of bounds on the final play of the game with the clock at 0.00.
Can you say Chris Weber?

I'm sorry but I have to say that I agree with you. Hope I'm wrong.

The best thing for Milton is to continue to get reps and national exposure as the starting QB at UT. The best thing for UT football IMO is put him on a Greyhound heading north out of Knoxville.

This is where I am. If he does play Saturday, I'll cheer him on, but I'm afraid he's a lost cause at this point. I hope he proves me wrong.

First thing, Milton needs to earn back the respect of his teammates. So the first play is a designed QB run, leave Henry T unblocked and tell Milton to run him over.
