How much more can Hype do to get Milton right?

Many will disagree with me, but I think I would hope to rest Hooker for this game, making sure he's 100% going in to the final stretch. He gets a week of rest after Bama, then he's ready for Kentucky. JMO
I don’t disagree with you at all. I was just hoping Milton can get it right for the rest of his career with this chance. I’m hoping that he can turn it around and stay , and the fans come back to love him as a vol. That’s all I want him to do.

He came into the game cold. Hit a nice slant right on target to get into scoring position. Hit the receiver in the hands in the endzone. 6" lower or the receiver elevates another 6" and he's a game winning hero.
Yes running out of bounds was a total brain dead decision.
He's what we have. If Hooker's out,( we don't know yet) Milton will play.
Just get behind the team.

More RPOs and play action to get him throwing with more rhythm and slowing down his work through the progressions.

Some of those over throws seems like he was just rushing to get rid of the ball.

Roll outs like they did with Crompton so he only reads half the field.

Offensive line health is almost as big a problem right now as Hooker being out. It won't matter how lousy the Alabama secondary is if they can't protect Milton up front.
They definitely should roll him out more.

With his arm, if Milton "gets it right" he would be the starter from here on out.

I don’t doubt that a bit that he would be the starter. I’m really hoping Sara, that he can do this. He is a vol. He is one of us. I feel so bad for him, but I like him as a player for us.

Had Milton not been injured Hook may have never seen the field.
It seemed Hype was going to live with Milton.

Regardless of who steps under center Saturday, Tennessee is going to have be very aggressive on offense. They're going to have to air it out multiple times to score. Alabama's secondary is very weak.

I’m afraid that we may not have any qb’s left after the game if they try to air it out, but your right it would be the best thing to do ,just hope the Mays boys are back.

Maybe the defense or special teams can get a score or two. If Hooker is not back, that'll have to do. Bama doesn't have to load the box and dare Joe to throw a pass downfield, but I am sure they will.

I am sure I will be flamed for saying this, but Milton's did throw two very good passes Saturday prior to shatting the bed on the last play. Tillman coulda, probably shoulda, caught the game winner and then we would not be talking this.

If he just chucks the ball in the end zone on the last play, regardless of outcome, how many of us are saying he did better than we expected.

So he can deliver, but unfortunately the nature of his final mistake negates the fact that he at least had us in position to win in the brief time he played.

After the last play, I said bench him and tell him he'd be better off transferring.

Now I say protect Hooker and Bailey and let Milton take the beating from Alabama and Georgia, then tell him he is better off looking elsewhere.

He is hopeless.

how exactly does it “seem” that way?

Seriously?

You realize Hooker played in every single game right? By game #2 Hooker had 188 yards 2 TD’s an int and 49 rushing yards.

Sure he wasn’t the starter at one point, but again “how” does it seem Milton would still be the QB?

I would be cool with Milton (really no choice) if he had chucked it into the end zone or fought as hard as he could to run it into the end zone - yeah, he tried...

...but to step out of bounds? His heart isn't in it. Not cool with me.

That's what I told my husband. "As big as he is, he should have kept running and dragging people." Maybe he didn't make it, but at least we would have saw some heart.

Yeah, I do not buy the "no hope" BS. Hope springs eternal. Amazing grace! CJH and staff simply need to get into Milton's head that he can get it done, turn the volume down, slow dance and not spasmodic junk. I've heard baseball pitchers recount their woes and the help of a team psychiatrist. Maybe CJH needs to take a field trip to the other side of campus where the psychiatry folks roam the halls. The other thing I see with Milton is he doesn't run with a purpose. Make it simple, if you have time, first down slide and start over. If we have a couple seconds on the clock, heave it like a punt somebody can catch and win the game. Somebody please show him the miracle at UGA where Dobbs threw it up and we came down with it. Again, never tell someone they have no hope...never. When it comes time to go a different direction, there is still hope.

Milton may be able to be converted to some other position (I can't think of anything he would be good at), but he is not, and never should have been put in as a QB. Why is so hard for some, even coaches, to admit he is absolutely not a QB.

I love UT, and I love this coaching staff, but they need to move on from Milton. He has proven over and over that he is not capable, but the running out of bounds with no time on the clock was even more stupid than JG running the wrong play at the goal line against Bama. The is NO EXCUSE for that bonehead play. How could anyone expect him to make any reasonable decision after that play?

Hooker surprised me and took coaching. Heupel has proven he can develop QBs, but I don't understand this deal with Milton. He seems to have not taken any advice.

With our lack of players, and the exorbitant number of injuries, this team has more fight and effort than we have seen in some time. We are on our way back, but we do need a lot of help at QB.

Well it " seemed like" Hype wanted Milton to be the man and started every game he was healthy. You don't remember that?

Again please show How it “seems” like Heupel would still be starting Milton.

Hooker has taken the vast majority of snaps in EVERY game since game 1.

you think Milton “wasn’t healthy” the past few games?
No I believe he was healthy at some point.
My comment was if he had not been injured Hook may have never gotten the opportunity to start and show what he can do. Obviously Hype ain't crazy and saw Hooker was the better option. Something Hype apparently did not see prior to Milton's injury.
Hopefully Hooker is good to go and it's a moot point.
This is my last reply about it.

I’m glad it’s your last reply…….because you still have yet to show anything……..anything at all to back up your own argument.

You have no clue what “would” or “might” have happened……no one does.

however we do know that Heupel made a decision early in the season to allow Hooker to become the starting QB.

Just because one coach will keep a QB that isn’t working as the starter……….doesn’t mean the next one will do the same……..in fact he didn’t.

I don’t know what “might” have happened……however there certainly isn’t any evidence whatsoever that suggests Heupel would have “stayed” with Milton all this time.
