As of today, How long do you think it will take before we compete for the East?
I know there are unknown variables with current coaching situation and investigation.
Thoughts?

If there were a betting line available on 10 years, I’d take the over.

I’m not even 30 years old yet so probably whenever I’m on my deathbed and we will end up losing the last game of the regular season on a last second Hail Mary to finish in 2nd place and finally put the last nail in my coffin.

We actually had to wonder if we were going to beat Vandy this year. We got beat by 4 touchdowns in Neyland by Kentucky.

It's going to be awhile. I'll guess 5 years, minimum, to compete and another 2 years to win it.

So sad but I’m afraid true. I don’t see us beating UGA or FL for at least three more yrs, and that is if one of the Frosh QBs produce. Plus UGA and FL will reload. We had our chance 2016 and blew it. So much talent wasted!

I couldn’t tell you. However, I can tell you that when it does happen, knowing our luck, the world will end with 3 seconds to go in the 4th as we’re kicking the game winning field goal against Bama in the SEC championship game.

My apologies then. I don’t start threads and Sirrius FM was discussing how far our program has fallen over the yrs. One of the hosts said he thought it would take UT five years of Pruitt was fired this year and longer if he stayed.

It may take 5yrs, 10yrs or maybe 25, who knows. But I thought it was just a simple question that Col fans could discuss.

Fair enough. I thought this was a crazy question given the uncertainty around the program. We don't know if CJP will be around next year. We don't know who would be a new head coach. So many things we don't know therefore how could we possibly know how long it would take to be back Not trying to pick on you. I would say the same thing the the radio hosts!! I think the takeaway is that it is going to many years before we even have a chance to be back. That is a depressing conversation. Might as well talk about future head coach possibilities....VN .... as at least there is the prospect of hope in that conversation. . Cheers and Go Vols!

Yeah I agree. I think my Mcelroy (sp) and Kannell were just giving hypotheticals and stating there was not one reason for the football program to struggle for 13 plus years.

They mentioned that we have mismanaged $$$ beyond coaches’ buyouts along w lack of commitment from upper admin and boosters. lol
I Just hope we can somehow gain respectability some how, some way, within 2 yrs and then start competing w the big three and win the games Wes good win based on our prior history

I think your hope is what most reasonable Vols want. Show us a path back. No gimmicks. Show us good looking football...we know what good football looks like.

We’ve lost some key players, no doubt. But how many offenses can say their biggest losses on offense were a sophomore OL who was average at best in the SEC, a WR who may not get drafted, and a 2nd string RB? The losses in that side of the ball aren’t bad, really. Oh and Trey Smith... losing him will hurt.

Butch had a couple of 9 win seasons because he had a really good QB. Maybe we give someone time to get a really good QB in here and see what happens. Pruitt's had 2 years of his own recruiting and has brought in 2 really good prospects. Maybe if we give him time to get them up and running we can see a couple more 9 win seasons. What wouldn't we give for 9 wins right now.

We are the laughing stock because our last four seasons have gone 4-8, 5-7, 8-5, and 3-7. How do you not understand it has nothing to do with fans or social media??

Maryville wouldn’t be one of them though. 3-7 D3 vs an 85 scholarship team......would = destruction......the same reason Tennessee eventually blew out Vandy.

I love the vols and I am 100 percent joking. You must mean maryville college, I meant the high school. I didn’t know that maryville college had a team. But for the record I was indeed joking.
