How does Tennessee RB's compare to the rest of the SEC

Of course not, he’s a Gator. He’s most certainly one of the top five all-purpose backs in the league; almost 2,000 career rushing yards on 381 carries, that’s a 5 yards per carry average, another 500 yards receiving on 41 catches, and 21 total td’s. And many HUGE plays in HUGE games over his career; he’s the LSU killer, took one 80 yards to the house v FSU and was a human highlight film v Michigan in the Peach Bowl.

But I should probably trust your opinion on great RB’s more so than Reggie Bush’s who recently called Perine “the most versatile playmaker in the country.”

5 ypc isn’t elite. Swift is near 10 this year and over 7 for his career. After Swift I’d take Kylin Hill from MSU, and then I’m not really sure after that.

I am trying my best not to be biased but I think Gray looks like the next great UT RB. I have not seen a rusher on the hill in quite some time that has his combination of elusiveness & quickness. I don’t care what his top end speed is, he is fast enough. He has some strength for a freshman as well. Chandler is solid but Jordan does not possess the type of speed you need out of a SEC back but at least he is serviceable when healthy. Currently, the group looks like they would fall somewhere in the 7-14 range. I do expect that rank to increase as Gray matures over time.

Does anyone remember the Ga game from last year, you know the one at home (GA's home)??? I looking forward to this year's get-together, just to watch swift. He may be the next Heisman trophy winner. If he stays healthy, and keeps doing what he's doing he'll be exciting to watch. BTW, I'm sure no one wants to remember the 2017 game, you know the one at our house.....thanks boy butch.

To think Eric is just a freshman. He'll be in the top 5 of the league soon enough. The coaches are super impressed by his maturity and work ethic. Can only rise up from there.

Yea, all the triggered 60 year old men on this thread think that fumbling 2 times in one game and dropping multiple passes throughout the season is "good football"

;););)

he never had possession of the ball and it landed on someones back... Come on dude

Tim Jordan looked better last year? I know he's injured now, but, just sayin
I think he's good to go now. Jordan just doesnt have the break away speed the others have. It just seemed everytime they put him in he killed the drive against Georgia St.

I like how your entire argument revolves around appeals to authority; and not even a good authority. Just because Reggie Bush was a good college RB, doesn't make him an expert NFL RB scout. Indeed, players are typically poor talent scouts.

Perine is not top 5 because there are at least 4-5 RBs on Alabama and Georgia alone that are better than him. It's not some weird anti-Gator bias I have. Georgia and Bama's rosters are loaded with elite RBs and I hate both Bama and Georgia more than Florida. Note, that Perine is also a Senior, which means he's almost by definition not "elite", since he would've left for the NFL Draft this year if he were.

Frankly, I think Perine is one of the most overrated RBs in the SEC. He's borderline top 10 at best. He's a good RB; but he's in a league loaded with great RBs. Fwiw, I'd take both Chandler and Gray over Perine. I'd take half the RBs on Georgia and Bama's rosters, as well. Probably at least 2-4 others I'd take over Perine, as well. I'd have him somewhere around #9 - #13 in the SEC.

Swift, Vaughn, Harris, Hill, Rountree

Really like Ty and Eric, neither are top 7-8 in the league. Maybe top 10.

I'd take Chandler over Roundtree. It's debatable, but the thing you have factor in is that Chandler has been running behind one of the worst run-blocking O-lines in the US over the past 2 seasons, while Roundtree has been behind one of the best O-lines.

People severely underestimate how good Mizzou's O-line has been; advanced stats for the Mizzou O-line looked spectacular last year. It was arguably in the same league as Bama and Georgia.

Not sure on ages or why that matters.

Pointing out silliness doesnt = "triggered" anyway.

He may be overrated in your eyes but he’s got a good shot to end his career in the top 5 all-time career rushers at UF. If he stays healthy, he’ll certainly pass other average stiffs like John L Williams, Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey. If he averages about 76 yards a game for the rest of the year he’ll pass a couple other stiffs named Tebow and Fred Taylor. If he gets hot and averages about 100 yards a game the rest of the year he can end up third behind Emmitt Smith and Erict Rhett. He’s got a great shot to crack the top 5 in TD’s and all-purpose yards too. And keep in mind he split carries with Jordan Scarlett most of his career.

Given all that, I think you’re exactly wrong and he’s one of the most underrated backs in UF and SEC history.

Gray will be next level special if he keep improving (which he will). He will get faster, stronger and as the line improves so will his ability to make explosive plays. Sees the field well and that is exceptional given he is a true freshman.

Go re-watch both games and count how many passes Chandler dropped.

Eric Gray is a much better RB
Chandler is averaging 6.3 a carry (2 yards more than Gray) and has carried it more times.

Eric has started off well for a Fr and is set to have a really good career at UT. But he's the second best back on this team.
