How can you defend JG after this?

As of writing this, our RBs have 16 carries for 35 yards. Not sure it matters who is quarterback when we have those stats on the ground. I think there was a thread this week where people were predicting how many rushing yards we'd get this week. I feel like quite a few people (myself included), thought we'd need at least 100+ yards to compete with georgia today. We're nowhere close to that
It does matter, a good qb and teams can't sell out on the run!

Great 1st half, but then the old JG came out of the dressing room. He this team down by not only destroying our offense, but was able to take down our defense at the same time. He looked like the JG we have seen so often. Our defense deserved so much more because of their effort. It is a devastating loss because of stupid penalties and JG just no capable of leading this team.
D. Played hard!!!

JG sucks. Has always sucked. But Peyton Manning himself would've had at least 3 TOs tonight against that D. Either the O line or the RBs sucked worse. Didn't watch it close enough to know which one is at fault. You gotta be able to run the ball to win the big ones in this league.
When there is no passing threat, you can't run the ball!!!!

I don't understand anyone who knows anything about football, why they can't understand this. I remember when bo jackson was at auburn, they were not that good at passing and we stopped bo jackson, because we concentrated on stopping the run because we were not too concerned with them beating us with the pass. When a team has no fear of your passing game and they are a good team they will stop the run game, and take their chances on the passing. That is exactly what teams are dong to ut.
Bingo!!!

Now that I've had a chance to digest this a bit...it really IS the QB. If we had a legit for real QB...we might score 1st drive of 2nd half and it changes whole complexion of the game. We COULD of won this game. Why recruit a guy like Bailey if you aren't gonna play him? He could be a great talent destined for great things....but we don't know. I know he's had limited practice but if he's as good as we think he might be...then get his azz in there.

Not that it's a big secret, but GA blueprinted exactly how to make Bad JG show up. Apply a little pressure. Just blitz. JG can't scramble, he can't make a quick decision or a quick pass. He WILL NOT beat you with his arm or legs.
He is the slowest RPO QB I have seen. If I remember right Jones did recruit him for the RPO. I have seen him hand the ball off even when the defender runs across his face directly to the RB.

How do you defend Pruitt after this? Any head football coach hired at UTK that goes three straight years without beating one of these three: Florida, Georgia or Alabama should be shown the door. Don't start with how close he has come. Jones came very close several times. ONE....ONE...win over any of the three over a three year period. That is a very low barr but we have to keep firing and hiring until we get the guy who can do that. The idiot that extended Pruitt's contract should be removed the entire state. What a waste of money from the hard working tax payers of the State of Tennessee.
A little early to be this drunk ain’t it Tommy Joe?

I am sorry, folks, but I have heard about Jim Chaney being a great OC for way too long. If he cannot see that JG is not an SEC QB, and that he is allowing good QBs to sit on the bench and rot, I cannot be convinced. At least give them a chance. JG may be a good guy, but we can only watch and wait for him to fall apart.

The second half today was about as pathetic as we can get, and he and Coach Pruitt keep JG out there continuing to give the ball to Ga. and to take every bit of the energy out of our defense.

It really hurts to try to keep positive and hope for success, when we have grown to realize we will fall apart and our coaches seem satisfied to watch it happen.

I am sick of hearing that we have to go back to work and try to correct our mistakes. Get it done before we have to watch our team get embarrassed on the field.

Leaders and winners make things happen. Followers and losers keep wondering what is happening.

JP's excuse for Younger guys not playing because of mistakes doesn't hold water any longer. If I am a young guy I am questioning why a 5th year senior is allowed to get by with mistakes and still play yet I am on the bench. Also, If I was a reporter at a presser I would ask JP this same question, time to put him on the spot, and defend his position with something other than "JG puts us in the best position to win." Today showed that is a lie. Of course, fans already know this.

I don’t see any reason for a top notch QB to commit to TN.
CJP talks a good game about there being competition at all positions but it is not true.
Our current QB position is locked up apparently.
Turnovers, don’t matter.
Can’t get production out of the offense like they should produce, don’t matter.
We must have a coaching staff that can prepare QB’s and O lines that can compete with the better teams. Our 5* line is average at best I’m afraid.

Too many other options for them at well coached teams.
Hopefully, HB doesn’t transfer. Wouldn’t surprise me though...........

I don’t understand how people on here can be losing their minds. Not the result we wanted but that’s due to the turnovers in 2nd half and missed tackles.

This is the beat defense we will play all year. They are elite. They outplayed us in 2nd half.

JG is who we thought he is. Much improved but just not good under duress. UGA got pressure on him and we fell behind.

Run game wasn’t there. UGA line had a lot to do with that. In strength vs. strength they win.

Our D missed too many tackles. Still not covering the middle of the field well. This contributed to the final score. They also got tired.

Bottom line we are a good team and will be competitive with every team on our schedule. UGA, like it or not, is better. Don’t panic. Keep improving and this will be a good season.

It starts with running the ball. We didn’t do that. No QB in the SEC is going to win a game with -1 yards rushing on his side.
