“You can’t be prosecuted for making an allegation of child abuse –even if it’s false,” she said.

That's unbelievable....

That's unbelievable....

I don't necessarily disagree with their rule but think that should not include reports that are completely unfounded or malicious.

I still don't understand how anyone can see a boy holding a rifle and consider that abuse. I guess the rifle is black and scary looking and any child who touches one will become a murderer.

Wish there was a way to have an intelligent discussion about guns but that will never happen in this country

Agreed... If you have a legitimate suspicion about abuse you iught to be able to soeak up but as you said... That protection shouldn't extend to instances like this....

Any time you have an issue that generates strong emotions (abortion, racism etc) that also has "bomb throwers" on both sides, rational discussion is all but impossible... Especially if the bomb throwers have a financial stake in keeping things stirred up....

The fact that it's these guys that get most of the attention from the media sure doesn't help the situation.

"No warrant, no entry". So the police left. But before you go officer Fife, thanks for coming out & harrassing the dog chit out of me & my son in the middle of the night...dumbasses. You just can't enter my house "without" a search warrant & demand to see what guns I have & take inventory of stuff inside my house that's private to the public. And who grants you the right to threaten me with statements of taking my son away if I don't cooperate & let you in my house without a warrant? Nothing to see here but "bully tactics" at it's finest from the police.

Some states have statutes that provide a person with immunity for making a report of child abuse. The thinking is that we'd rather have over-reporting than under.

One wonders if there is more to the story ....And if maybe this guy is pinning his claims to the firearms angle.

He has the PR upper hand in that he can go on and on saying that the pic is THE reason this happened, but the law enforcement people and child protective services can't respond at all. Don't you think it odd that this guy would be so self-promoting about his gun agenda if it was THE cause of this investigation?

Color me shocked. There always has to be more to the story right? I mean, come on...

Look in the mirror. People that think like you are ruining this country. Fact.

Knew this was coming - there's always more to the story if the story conflicts with LG's view. Never more to the story when he's the OP.

with the way FB pics work it could be a report from someone he's never even met.

and color me shocked there was no critique of the actions of the officers

Nope. Nothing here but police bully tactics in the way they (police) were acting. Can't they talk to the dad in a normal tone of voice & see what's up w/the picture that was posted on Facebook?

You'd think a legit lawyer would be outraged at the attempted shakedown with no warrant...

That's because I am suspicious of people who would be checked out for child abuse, and respond by running to the media to complain about it, portraying it as based on their political beliefs.

You would think that is what would happen .... unless the pic isn't the only issue here.

It was the picture on Facebook that got someone to call police to see if child abuse was going on. How would you feel if this happened to you in the middle of the night? A guy's little boy "holding" a .22 rifle in a picture is not a cause for a team of police to bully the parent to unlawful search & seizure. Don't see how this could even be considered child abuse.
