Maurer got his first start last year against ga, who has and was a much better defensive team than bama this year. No reason not to play Bailey or either of the others, at least you give yourself a chance, unless hc is going to run, run,, and then pass on obvious passing downs. I hope he mixes it up and at least show he is trying to win and not just keep the score closer.

You are right.. in the long run, it doesn't matter. Bama's second string would kill us. However it's just not done in coaching to advertise a change of personnel when that news doesn't buy you anything. Why lay all of your cards out on the table, even if you have a crappy hand?

Talent aside, Bama will most likely be around the 4th or 5th highest rated defense we face this year.

That team has beat us so hard, even our fans have PTSD. The defensive effort Bailey sees will be par for the course for what he sees in the SEC week in and out.

Tell him to just focus on that and not worry about the fact Bama has 70 points halfway through the second quarter.
