Helton Exposed

Way to skirt your post, project onto me while still comparing apples to oranges.
When has WKU ever been compared to a top tiered program....ever. We were talking year one game one. Keep up.
I didn't skirt anything. It is a long season we will see how it plays out. As for Top Tiered, I assume you are implying financially because UT hasn't been top tiered on the football field in some time.

I'm not defending him by no means but it sounds like offense wasn't the problem. They scored 28 points. In most cases that should be good enough to win.
Interesting you brought up that 28 points should be enough to win a game, it forced me to research the scoring avg. crazy, that in 2016 the average team score was 30.04 points a game, still trying to find 2018 stats. Today's offenses are high powered, even Alabama has made the shift will Tua last year.

I don't think its wise to judge anyone by a single game. While I don't want to lose to an FCS school it happens (Michigan anyone?) if they were overlooking them. If they keep losing and don't improve over the year I will tip my cap to OPs early call. ;)

Take one look at recruiting classes for the past 20 years. UT went 9-4 and won bowl games vs Top Tiered opponents within the past 5 years. On paper, UT had a decent amount of top tiered recruits on the roster last year. What has WKU done or recruited in that same time frame?
Look I'm not saying that UT has been world beaters and I often lament the past 15 years. But at no time has WKU been on the same level as UT, recruiting or otherwise,. It is absolutely apples and oranges.
I agree that it is a long season and we'll see what happens. I'm not gonna base my assessment of Helton on his first game as HC any more than I do with anyone else.

As a proud alum of WKU and season ticket holder (I was there last night) I will admit they have a hill to climb but they’re definitely not a FCS program. 2 years, and now 1 game ago, they were raising their second straight conference title banner. 1 year, and 1 game, ago they went to a bowl game which is commendable. Not a FCS team but struggled on pass defense. Helton’s offense was fine. Can he manage a program as a CEO? TBD.

First year head coach takes over a 3 win team and loses season opener, yeah he’s garbage.

I’m glad he’s gone but geez, give the guy a break.
I think Ubben already spent his break.

Didn’t Pruitt take over a struggling program that went 4-8 the year before and lose his season opener not long ago as well?

You done went and did it now. You done brought facts up in here. got my popcorn ready

Why do we love it when former coaches fail?

Why is there always that “holier than thou”? Crazy. Nobody said they popped a cork. Just making an observation that he wasn’t good while here and that has continued. The reality is we got lucky to have another team come along and take him. We probably couldn’t have paid his buy out meaning he’d be back if he hadn’t left on his own. And there no doubt Chaney is a massive upgrade. No sure why we ever hired Helton to begin with

Bruh, you didn't even need to go there, are you seriously comparing Central Arkansas against WVU? WVU was a top 25 team heading into the season last year with a QB that threw for over 3800+ yds and 30+ TD's and who has always had TN number? I get the struggling team comparison but should have let the home opener comparison be, undermines credibility in your argument.
Not a comparison as much as the point that Helton shouldn’t be judged any more than Pruitt was.

And I see the irrelevance and vast difference...all in balance.
Hard to think of a more comparable situation given the difference in schools and/or different circumstances (along with knowing very little about WKU). Although I would think many would agree that getting curb stomped by Vandy would rank up there as equally as embarrassing as WKU losing to Central Arkansas.
