(Note: I only made it through vol. 1 of the book, so no particular basis for this belief)
The Starks will need Dany's dragons against the wights or waights or whatever they call the zombie army, because only fire can stop them permanently.
btw, why did GRRM make all three dragons boy dragons? Gonna be tough to maintain martial superiority without a source of spares.
not even 24 hours ago, we witnessed her massacre a large number of people (including the queen/wife of her child) so she could get out of being (possibly) found guilty of crimes and accusations she knowingly IS guilty of in the first place.
yep, that was surely all done solely for the benefit of Tommen.
Meh. He just seems like such a minor player in this. Guy gets introduced out of nowhere (for show viewers), claims lordship over a house that is divided in strength and power (half of which will be fighting against him), and is now supposed to be a legitimate threat to Dany, who has been building her power over 6 seasons.
That was for the benefit of her family because she knows what it takes to be on top at King's Landing. Tommen's "holiness" experiment had to end, and she was willing to blow up an entire ****ing city to achieve glory for herself and son. IMO, that's is one of the most bada$$ things any character on this show has ever done.
She took a gamble on the suicide, I admit, one that she ultimately lost. But from a Cersei perspective, that's a gamble worth taking because she knows her fate, unlike others in the series. I think she was holding out hope that Tommen would see the explosion and destruction of the Sept as a necessary event for the expansion of their family's power and to break the hold of the Sparrow in KL, but in reality she also knew his death was on the table. She was still willing to gamble her son's life because she held out hope that the fortune was wrong. This is the tunring point for Cersei. Until this point she never would have considered gambling Tommen's life, but as Tyrion said in the episode, "The great game is terrifying" and Cersei displays the selfishness/fortitude/boldness/cowardice (depending on your perspective) to get what she wants. That's the entire point of the entire series. Who is best at getting wht they want? How does power drive them to do so. Cersei made the ultimate sacrifice for that power and thus illustrates the entire point GRRM makes throughout the series.
Jaime cares about one thing: Cersei. He said it himself. This episode, however, revealed the lust of Cersei's true heart above all else: power. This episode was so great for Cersei because it fundamentally changed who the character is and will be in the future.

and yet, you are acting like this excuses her from the horrible things she does? she's a great, entertaining character, but she is by no means a hero or character to cheer for. she is just as much an antagonist as Joffery or Ramsay ever were.
So either Bran or Howland will have to come into play in making it known who Jon is. Or maybe he just mounts a dragon. Or maybe it's never known to the general populace.
Assuming it does become known, who has the greater claim, Ned's daughter or his nephew?
I'm not trying to make excuses for her behavior.
I'm trying to explain that her behavior is what makes her the best at playing the game. And that's the point.
It's a matter of perspective, though. To some she is evil, you for example, and but to others she is incredibly courageous, like me.
Walter White sacrificed his family. People cheered for his character.
Yeah..he SEEMs that way. Except he is supposed to have a magic horn that supposedly controls dragons that he went looking for and found in the Smoking Sea.
They really gonna go that route? Again, Dany has spent the entire show slowly taming her dragons, which only she, a Targaryen, can do. Now she has complete control over them and is finally in position to grab the Iron Throne, and some dude with a horn is going to usurp control over them and use them against her?

that's exactly what you're doing.
no, that's not the point. we're not discussing how good she is at playing the game of thrones. we're discussing if she is/what she does makes her a likable character to root for.
quite honestly, before last night, Cersei was actually pretty terrible at playing the game. reading the books, she's actually quite stupid and full of herself. everything she tries to do, ends up blowing up in her face. of course, that could very well change in the next book given what we saw last night.
she IS bad. this really shouldn't be a matter of perspective at all. ESPECIALLY after last night.
to Walter's credit, his initial reasoning for getting into the drug industry was at least completely selfless. That was not the same for Cersei. No matter what, Cersei is trying to get something she wants for herself. Walt was going to die and the money would be completely useless to him.
and then of course, the more the show progressed, the more despicable, vile, and corrupt Walter became. I will admit that myself and most people don't consider him quite as despicable as Cersei, but I'm pretty sure most people (including myself) weren't necessarily "cheering him on" constantly. surely, not towards the end. Walt was a great character, highly doubt Cersei will do that. She will die like the villain she is.but he deserved everything he got towards the end, and at least had some decency to change and redeem himself right beforehand.

Then what's the point of sending Theon and Yara to her? Why involve the Iron Islands at all, in any more of the story? Who or what, other than distance or weather is going to even slow Dany down. What kind of bore is that? Just watching Dany slowly march from Dorne to Kings landing? No opposition at all from anybody till Kings landing? You really think that giant borefest is going to be the direction they go? Euron is the wildcard IMO. He is the only one who can slow Dany down at all. With a horn to control or neutralize the dragons he can cause major havoc at sea, where the Ironborn excel. The last two episodes were just too triumphant for the good guys to me. Like a giant GoT set you up, just to kick you right in the gonads. It's what they do. It is just a theory though. Who knows?
