Prove most of it is crap. What is an example of the "crap"?. Seriously. I do believe some things get exaggerated, but to claim " most is crap" and just a fan copout without any proof is crap.
I got it. Wasn’t trying to cause trouble, but I struggle to find real facts on what is happening at UT. It doesn’t help that I live in TX and only get to campus 2-3 times a year now. If any booster is trying to unduly influence the UTAD, then they need to be called out on it. The Haslams have provided a lot of financial support over the years, but it doesn’t give them or other boosters the right to use their money to handcuff the school’s athletics. I would like to see a real reporter dig into some of this stuff.
Don't know.So were the Haslams involved in Fulmer being hired, Pruitt being hired, Pruitt's staff?
Boca it's not that they want them to fail. They think they need to be at the top of all decisions. Running a buisness is alot different than running a football team. See Cleveland Browns.Back to this post....Why would this family invest so much into UT if they wanted UT to fail? Does that make any sense? If you've listened to Knoxville Sports Talk radio the HOH has been a popular scapegoat for UT football's recent failures over the past year.
Spot on.Sorry for the followingTl;Dr but I know you actually pay attention.
I spent a lot of time doing tons of research and talking with people. (Btw, ya'll should pay attention to Beecher on this)
You've pretty much got it dead on. Each Haslam is different, Big Jim being the better of all.
Bill does some good things, that should be admitted.
Jimmy wants his money to override everything and he sucks at football. Bad combination.
Boca is a little right and a LOT wrong.
The "HOH" isn't close to weighing in on every little decision, not even fb if it's assistants etc;
What he ignores, they do have the most say in who runs things at the top. And those people take serious consideration of what they want when they hire others or vote etc.
So they have the say over a few but yet biggest decisions. But they also affect many other decisions simply by proxy.
You do understand that there is a difference between "wanting something to fail" and being arrogant enough to believe your answer is always the best one,. Right?Back to this post....Why would this family invest so much into UT if they wanted UT to fail? Does that make any sense? Walk around campus and look at their names on things. The benefit to academics is massive. Therefore they will wield as much influence as they want for the most part. Though Big Jim is closing in on 90 and doesn't care as much about meddling as many on here would have you believe.
Does anybody know what kind of bank they donate annually to UT to warrant such (apparent) control? If they are truly bankrolling the entire athletic department (which I highly doubt) and the track record of the program since they have been donating is similar to that of an Enron chart, why would the BOD still allow it to continue? I get it that (to quote Animal House) "We need the dues". But damn...
Thoughts?
You do understand that there is a difference between "wanting something to fail" and being arrogant enough to believe your answer is always the best one,. Right?
Between wanting failure and being immature enough to override others because you believe you're never wrong?
Petty enough for payback on rare occasions if you don't get your way?
There really is a difference between wanting to do UT any harm and just believing you know what's best. Then having the means to push that will on others. No matter how much your previous results suggesting this is one thing that you're just not very good at.

Have you read the whole thread? No? Then why are you posting?Simple question. Why would the Haslams donate so much money to the institution if they were trying to sabotage it? They obviously love UT. If not, then show me anyone that donates money to schools they hope fail. Offer some proof, if not, stfu about their intent.
In actual fact it does not work both ways. Proving something in the affirmative or that something exists is possible, whereas, proving something in the negative (that something is nonexistent or does not exist) is a near logical impossibility. It would also be a mistake to assume that just because the Haslams may not be involved in the OC hire that they have not been heavily involved in other big decisions involving athletics and football, in particular, like the hiring of Greg Schiano.Prove to me it's not crap! See. It works both ways.
If the HOH existed as fans want to believe then wouldn't an OC have already been hired and shoved down the fans' throats?
Just a little research would have kept you from posting this.
I think about Jesus's parable about the poor old widow who gave her only coin and the rich people who gave a lot but it really didn't cost them anything to give it. What do the Haslams really give?I don't hate Tennessee fans. I can't stand stupid fans...although the Gruden mess was a lot of fun.
If you don't recall the scenario where Gruden was getting the Haslam's house on Lyons View then go back and read it. There were realtors based in FL that were checking into it...LOL.
And yes, MOST OF THE CRAP ON THE HASLAMS...IS CRAP! That family has given more to UT than most of us could ever dream. I still say that UT is better off with their money than without it. If you disagree, then fine. Otherwise, STFU!
Bc some people's idea of success is tied to their control over that success.Back to this post....Why would this family invest so much into UT if they wanted UT to fail? Does that make any sense? Because bod is appointed by Gov. HaslamDoes anybody know what kind of bank they donate annually to UT to warrant such (apparent) control?
