Hart must go

AD Hart's unwillingness to deal with the meltdown of the Volunteer Nation shows that he is not up to the job. He needs to resign immediately.

He had 2 choices: Either find a new coach and announcde Dooley's firing/replacement OR come out with a visible and tangible level of support for Dooley. He has done neither.

Perhaps Dooley's administrative skills would allow him to become the new AD saving buyout money and provide a smooth path for a new head coach.

Something needs to happen. The meltdown is out of hand. I have been a solid Dooley (and Vol) supporter but it is beyond repair. End it mercifully and quickly.

Seriously? Fire Hart? Why should Hart take the fall for Hamilton's hire?

If you're trying to destroy any semblance of structure and continuity in our athletic program, and want to set our teams back yet again another 3 years.... you got a great idea, dude.

BTW, nobody gives a $*#$ what dumb$&^ $&%^# say on internet message boards. Hart's bright enough to know fans are upset. It ain't rocket science.

Dave Hart has made ZERO hires yet---and he's being calculated for a reason---he probably could can Dooley tonight and announce a press conference Monday morning. For whatever reason, he hasn't----he'll handle it soon enough.

Like Dooley has any chance of coaching this team to a win?
Come on, man, the writing is on the wall. Even with a win over SC (doubtful), this season is a bust. If Hart can land an actual coach, it could do nothing but energize the fan base and program even with an interim coach the rest of the season.
that is assuming he fires that flop Dooley, the embarassment is to a maximum degree. If this was Jeromy Foley Dooley would not be allowed within 1,000 miles of Knoxville. Off topic somebody take that water bottle from Dooley during interviews. Swish and rinse is for the dentist office.

Hart has done a terrible job as athletic director. He has incurred three, count them three, sexual discrimination lawsuits during his short tenure as AD. There is a signed affidavit stating he fired Pat Summit. He continues to let Dooley drag us deeper and deeper into an irrecoverable abyss. I say fire him. I'd like to see Dooley promoted to AD as well. He has a law degree. Maybe he can see us through the lawsuits. He also has AD experience at La. Tech. If we "promote" Doolander, we can also likely restructure his contract and avoid that 5 million dollar buyout. I hate Dooley, but a lot of people I talked to at the game last night are still firmly in his corner. Firing Dooley, like firing Majors and Fulmer will further divide the fanbase. If you promote him to AD, I think it will unify Vol nation. Once the **** hits the fan in these lawsuits, I suspect Hart is done anyway.

No it won't, I personally don't want Dooley within 1,000 miles of Knoxville.By the way Pat said it did not go down that way, this is just a bunch of women on the public dole trying to continue eating from the trough.

What?... Seriously.... Hart is doing his job.....

I agree that CDD needs to, but he should be treated with respect, not pushed out into the street...

He is a good guy and cares deeply for his players, he just didn't succeed in coaching at UT.....

This is retarded.. you have no idea what has or hasn't already been decided..

and firing a coach in the middle of the season is stupid unless that coach has done something drastically unethical or illegal..

decision could have already been made and the search going on behind closed doors which IMO is the correct way to handle this type of thing..

I agree that it's silliness to be calling for Hart's firing at this stage. However, I think there needs to be a strong message sent to Hart...DO NOT BLOW THIS...unless you want to join Hamilton as an Ex-AD. GO BIG OR GO HOME. It will be one or the other. Another low-budget hire and chit's gonna hit the fan.

I agree 100%. My feelings exactly.

That's a good question. I'm trying to find an answer to that one too and can't.

I can tell you a few answers why it is the right move.

1. Lame duck coaches don't recruit that well. Bringing in a new staff a month earlier will help tremendously in recruiting (or at least minimize the damage done).

2. Auburn, Texas, Arkansas will be entering the coaching market soon, if they haven't started already. Get a jump on them before they drive up the price or take who we want.

3. We can all move on. Dooley can move on. The fans can move on.

Don't understand why this just got merged. That thread was going to be epic, I guess we can only have one Hart thread but as many pointless Gruden threads as people want to make. Ha.

If the following is true, as indicated by skeeter

Hart wouldn't extend Wilcox's contract
Pushed for the Sunseri hire

And then chooses to stick with Dooley I don't see how he could be defended.

With Wilcox in place we would probably be a two loss team and Dooley being fired talk would not be an issue.
