Hart must go

I don't think he was too kind to Coach Pat Summit either!

That is a completely different subject, and lets be honest, the role of AD is to not be the guy that everyone likes. Its the Role to making sure you're doing whats best for the program, and lets just be real...The looks that Dooley gives on the sidelines and the looks that pat gave the last season..They're very similar.

The spectacle was who we ended up with because nobody wanted the job. Twice!
Kiffin was hamilton's guy. The timing and the looming ncaa allegations were a big problem in the second search. Tennessee is still a huge job for almost any coach in the country.

Waiting too long puts a recruiting class at risk. Recruits want to know who their coach is going to be and a coach needs time to put in the work. Big name coach might sway big name recruits.

AD Hart's unwillingness to deal with the meltdown of the Volunteer Nation shows that he is not up to the job. He needs to resign immediately.

He had 2 choices: Either find a new coach and announcde Dooley's firing/replacement OR come out with a visible and tangible level of support for Dooley. He has done neither.

Perhaps Dooley's administrative skills would allow him to become the new AD saving buyout money and provide a smooth path for a new head coach.

Something needs to happen. The meltdown is out of hand. I have been a solid Dooley (and Vol) supporter but it is beyond repair. End it mercifully and quickly.

But but Hart is all Vol now don't say anything about him being from Bama or people will tell you to go suck squirrel nuts imho we need TN people higher up.

Let Hart do his job. He is not going to tell everyone what he is going to do. He will do something. He came from Alabama he knows what it takes to win. You think he like that our football team is bad? He will make changes.

Firing Dooley midseason is the wrong move. That's what happened to Fulmer and the team responded with a loss to Wyoming.

And Hart is doing what he should be doing. He's putting out feelers finding out who would be interested in the job. That way at the end of the season, he knows exactly who to call.

In the case of Fulmer, MH announced on Nov 2, 2008 that he would not be the coach after the end of the season. The Vols did subsequently lose to Wyoming, but then beat Vandy & KY.

The general consensus among people who follow hirings & firings is that a top tier coach to replace Dooley needs to know ASAP that yes, UT will have a new coach in 2013 (gosh, I feel better just typing that!). Whether Hart works sub rosa or does it as did MH, he needs to move quickly. In the SEC alone, it is projected that Auburn, KY, & of course Arkansas will be hiring new coaches. Potential hires need to know soon that UT is also in the hunt.

I agree with about all of this.

I think not hearing from him as a good thing. Hamilton was always doing interviews, making things worse imo and sometimes backing himself into a corner. I don't think the AD should react just to appease us as fans. If he came out and gave a token vote of confidence, he would get flames, if he came out like Hammy did 08 and is too open, he gets flames and affectes the team and rest of season. I am as anxious as the next guy but I am fine with him doing things behind the scenes in a way that is best for all involved. I hate waiting, but would rather wait than have something botched by our AD handling things the wrong way. I trust the guy. However, if he announces Kirby Smart next month....we have a problem. haha

Hart has done a terrible job as athletic director. He has incurred three, count them three, sexual discrimination lawsuits during his short tenure as AD. There is a signed affidavit stating he fired Pat Summit. He continues to let Dooley drag us deeper and deeper into an irrecoverable abyss. I say fire him. I'd like to see Dooley promoted to AD as well. He has a law degree. Maybe he can see us through the lawsuits. He also has AD experience at La. Tech. If we "promote" Doolander, we can also likely restructure his contract and avoid that 5 million dollar buyout. I hate Dooley, but a lot of people I talked to at the game last night are still firmly in his corner. Firing Dooley, like firing Majors and Fulmer will further divide the fanbase. If you promote him to AD, I think it will unify Vol nation. Once the **** hits the fan in these lawsuits, I suspect Hart is done anyway.

...It's Hart's job to work with the Haslams to get it done. I would love to have had a small digitial recorder in the skybox to capture the conversations that transpired among the Haslams, Hart, and Peyton last night.
