Malzahn would be a good choice in that he would want to show Auburn what a mistake they made and the firing probably has lit a fire under his butt to prove people wrong.

Yeah it would suck to have a Richt type coach on our hands. I mean....who the hell wants to settle for winning 9 or 10 games every single year? SMDH!!!

In some ways I think yes I want him. Has beaten Saban 3 times. But has not fared well against Georgia who they play yearly or Bama who they play yearly. I just think taking him from playing Bama Georgia and LSU to playing Bama Georgia and Florida every year wouldnt go well. That being said, do I believe he is an upgrade to our program and could bring stability? Yes. He didnt leave the program in a bad shape. He just couldn't beat bama enough to make people happy there. Auburn gets tired of being little brother in the state.

It’s hard for me to understand how people cannot understand relative success. You don’t judge a coach at a crap school like Ole Miss on how many championships he won because NO coach is going to win a championship at Ole Miss (See Saban at Mich State and Michigan State has better assets relative to Big 10 competitors than Ole Miss does to SEC rivals). You judge them by whether or not they outperform expectations and how close they come to a school’s realistic ceiling. I’m not sold on Freeze because of his NCAA violations and his personal failings which apparently are not limited to his Ole Miss days, but the on the field job he did there was top notch. He would be an improvement to Pruitt.

Hiring Gus would make SEC football like MLB, you fire him I'll hire him. There are several head coaches that need a shot to bring new life into the SEC. Retreads may get you down the road but few get you home.

Gus won a Natty at Auburn after Auburn friends of the program 'donated' a load of money to Newton's fathers church. Since then he has been competitive but a step behind. I am not sold on him now that Kiffin and Leach are in the conference. Their offenses, along with Florida and Bama's are the one's to imulate. The plug and play. Big Oline, talented receivers, QB who doesn't fold under pressure. UT has had the makings except for the QB.

Richt has had a number of health scares which led to his decision to retire from coaching and he suffered a massive heart attack just last year. I don’t believe he will coach again.

Apparently Pruitt is having a ton of personal issues right now. Does anyone have any insight to what’s going on?

I know Jeremy mentioned yesterday that his grandfather had not been doing well and he was going to be spending some time with him. That’s really all I am aware of.

Butch was beaten by Dooley.
Pruitt had like 35 hung on his D in about a 1/2 by Butch.
Malzahn was beaten soundly at home by Pruitt.

I say NO just so I won't have to hear that last one follow him here.

Well Freeze outperformed expectations because he had virtually an ineligible team. He has shown that he can coach with talent. But he has also shown he can't recruit on a national scale without a bagman. Regardless, Freeze would be a good value coach considering how cheap he would be at a bigger school. No one is going to offer him 4-5 million starting out given his background. So getting anywhere from 8-9 wins minimum per year for a coach under 4 million would be good.


Regardless, him beating Saban is the main thing people hype. What I'm trying to understand is how people hype that up but turn a blind eye and ear to the fact he had a head start in back to back years to winning the division and going to the SEC Title game (because ole miss and bama are early season games) and still fumbled.


So he's a great coach for beating Saban, but for not beating the likes of Gus, Mullen, Coach O/Miles, etc??? How's that funky math work?
