If that were me I'd have done my civic duty and make sure those "military grade weapons of war" were destroyed. I wouldn't have wasted taxpayer money by calling the brave and overworked ATF.

I thought about putting one together for nostalgic value along with a original sock side M16 mod (not the A1 upper) but it's "down the road."

I liked the A1, that's what we used through basic and AIT.

Had one of those trigger cranks so when we went out and shot we had excuse

Rumor has it that it’s even better than the movies , except they don’t have to hide it after unloading two magazines so the neighbors don’t come out on the front porch trying to figure out where it’s coming from

I liked the A1, that's what we used through basic and AIT.

We had the original M16s without the forward assist when I came in. The USAF never bought the A1 models except in the CAR variant.

That would have sucked. The forward assist came in handy with those old rifles.

Hey, 99% of the time the USAF gets the Army hand-me-downs. Every once in a while they do something for themselves and it works.
