Gun control debate (merged)

I taught public school in Tennessee for 14 years. My children have attended public schools in five states, with one stop being in a very left-leaning district for a year. My wife works as a middle school library aid. I am in schools every week supervising student teachers. I have colleagues and friends across the country in classrooms every day.

The are some teachers and some districts that have jumped the shark. They get media attention over the schools and classrooms where incredible things are happening. But having the perspective I have and the community I belong to that regularly discuss what's going on in their districts, none of that matters.

I could take willing people to a thousand random classrooms in the United States and let them see for themselves what is going on - the good and the bad - but none of it would matter as many minds are already made up. And if one classroom we visited sucked and the other 999 were quality, all we'd hear about is the one that needed better training, better administrative guidance, maybe even a better teacher. Because that's the one that fits what a certain population wants to be true.
And they should get media attention. CRT is a ****ing cancer, and anything resembling it is a cancer. If that constitutes my 'mind being made up' then you are damned right. That kind of crap is horrible, but it fits an agenda of indoctrination. What is fascinating to me is that little kids don't see race until it is pointed out to them.

I feel your pain though too. If one airplane crashes, but the other million get from point A to point B, it is in every headline.

It will make zero difference what you send him. He is against guns, although he says he isn’t. He is for ”reasonable and rational” gun laws, but will never state what that is.
I feel like those videos are damning to his case and explains why he hasn’t responded because there is nothing he can say. If he actually watched them, he now has to think of a new position because they destroyed his every argument

I've tried about ten different ways to say this, but I'll just go with: I agree.

You're good people. I'm sorry for the times I've been an ass to you.

It’s insane how many idiots I keep hearing talk about how “no one needs semi automatic rifles” or calling an AR a “weapon of war”. You can tell that they are so uninformed and ignorant that they think semi auto means someone can just hold the trigger down and spray. They are 100% clueless on the subject.

Just get the mess over and done with, humans love killing, especially each other. Now, in the light of the above argument, doesn't this make sense?

"Whether The People be led by The Lord,
Or lured by the loudest throat:
If it be quicker to die by the sword
Or cheaper to die by vote--

Whatsoever, for any cause,
Seeketh to take or give
Power above or beyond the Laws,
Suffer it not to live!
Holy State or Holy King--
Or Holy People's Will--
Have no truck with the senseless thing.
Order the guns and kill!"

Reasonable and rational would be one 22 bolt action per family until someone murders more than several people with one. At that point we head back to the negotiating table with the grabbers and will eventually long for the days when it was legal to own a Red Rider BB gun. That is the plan imho.

You forgot it the .22 would have to have the firing pin locked away in another part of the house.

Can you fire the same number of rounds per second from an AR-15, a shot gun, a single bolt rifle, and every type of handgun?
If your answer is no, then I'm right and you are wrong.

This is comedic gold, so I had to reply...

I don't know about the rest of the AR-15 owners here...maybe I got gypped...but I just checked all of mine, and they are in fact "single bolt rifles". Each of them has exactly one bolt, conveniently contained in the bolt carrier group.

So there. Mine are not, according to Luther, AR-15's. They are "single bolt rifles".

I'm waiting for that information to get sorted out. We know that the shooter with an AR in the N.Y. grocery store was hit twice by someone with a handgun. The shooter was wearing a vest and killed the man who tried to stop him. We also know that the deputy with a handgun at the school shooting in Florida a few years ago did not go into the school to stop the shooter with an AR-15. My point is that cops with handguns are at a disadvantage against someone with an AR-15 or AK-47. Take the superior weapons off the market and require school guards to have them, and the situation would be reversed.
Let me ask you something. We cannot stop the flow of drugs and illegals. What makes you think we could stop the flow of weapons into this country?

Just confirmed, all my lever actions, semi-autos and bolt actions are single bolt.

To be sure, there ARE double bolt rifles. These are double barreled rifles typically in African big-game cartridges but the expense of those guns is pretty much going to rule them out, just like assault rifles, for the average mental midget planning a rampage.

This is what I was just thinking. Illegal drugs are everywhere even though they are “illegal”. The same thing would happen with guns especially with the porous southern border we have. Yet the idiot politicians think they can fix everything with legislation. Clown world. The fix is to secure our borders and schools.

.950 JDJ is great for home defense!

Oh damn, still a single bolt.

Typical ignorant liberal response. Blame the weapon , never mind the idiot carrying it around.

Typical ignorant right-wing comment, ignoring the proven fact that our population has a continual supply of idiots who prove themselves incapable of owning a high capacity firearm without committing mass murder. When you add an AR-15 to a bad minded idiot, what do you expect will happen?

Should we take away their other rights as well?
