Gun control debate (merged)

I have shot a handgun a few times at a firing range and tried skeet shooting a few times. I was admittingly not a very good shot and didn't particularly enjoy it either.
If the recoil or noise bothers you, it's time to do something else.

Exactly what other things have "parameters of reasonableness" applied to them?

Self-defense.
Negligence.
4th amendment contains a reasonableness standard. I assume you will recognize this since you believe so strongly that the 2nd amendment gives you the right to own as many guns as you want.

I could keep going, but don't want to bore anyone.

Since the government is us, you apparently have no problem with me telling you what you can or cannot own?

When you are elected to office and represent me, then let's talk. I don't agree with much of what any of the people elected to represent me in congress are doing right now, but I still respect the system.

How about if your elected officials tell your girlfriend that she can't have an abortion? Okay with that?

I'll never understand the utter arrogance it takes to determine what others should and should not do.

Here's a clue, if you start off saying "people should..." You're wrong.

I've never known a competitive person move on from something they weren't good at. That typically drives then to practice more.

When I was younger you are absolutely right. However, I don't have that kind of time to devote anymore and I've also matured some, which a wife and kids will do to you.

Absolutely correct. When I was young, I practiced golf until my hands were covered with blisters, scraped snow off our outdoor basketball court, and shot foul shots until my fingerprints were worn off, kicked field goals until my toes felt like they were broken, and kicked some more. Back in those days, we kicked straight ahead( like Lou "The Toe" Groza), pre-soccer style.

Same arrogance that leads people to think the 2nd amendment gives them the right to own an unlimited amount of guns/weapons.

The straight on kick (before my time) always amazed me. In some ways it seems to make more sense, but I would think the distance is a lot less.

Show me where it says you are limited in the amount of arms you can own.

I take a civilian militia interpretation of the Second Amedment, which is basically that the Second Amendment is no longer valid, having been intended to protect a militia system that is no longer in place

Do you honestly believe we derive our rights from a ****ing piece of paper?

Tom Dempsey kicked one straight on from 63 yards with his short club foot, but overall distance is less. I was stuck at a little over 45 yards, but that was almost 50 years ago, and I was a teenager, and not that strong. Weight training has come a long way.

The great news is you can choose to exercise rights, or not. So show your solidarity against the 2A by not owning any guns. There, you've ensured one more gun free home.

If you believe that the United States Constituion is just a "****ing piece of paper", then not sure this debate is worth having.

That's exactly what it is. I understand the original intent garbage, that's a discussion for another day. The fact is, the bill of rights simply enumerated our rights. It didn't grant anything.
