Gun control debate (merged)

The last time I checked swimming pools weren't a danger to my family or children unless I chose to take them to the pool. There is a legal term for that, it is called "assumption of the risk". The difference between swimming pools and guns is that I assume the risk if I choose to take myself or family to the pool, but I have no choice if I am in public and some gun nut decides to open fire thinking he is "defending" himself.
Another friggin' lawyer!

I get really tired of the argument that we shouldn't try to do anything to address the issue because it won't matter. Good thing you people weren't the ones trying to end slavery or get women or minorities the right to vote.
If we still had slavery, the Mexicans wouldn't be quite so anxious to crash the party.

Let's just do away with all gun laws and go back to the 1800's when everyone was carrying a gun or two.

If I get a horse, a sweet revolver, and a good Cowboy name... I'm in. Just don't call me John Wayne. That's a terrible Cowboy name.

One thing for sure, Smith and Wesson will hate to see Obama go. He has been the best gun salesman in US History.

I betcha they are wanting a Madame Clinton presidency to be assured of continued growth and prosperity.

Nope, they want paying customers.

There weren't any gays until the last couple of years. Women have been messing up elections for almost a hundred years. Must have been somebody else. Liberals! That's who it was.

I choose the Gays because no married man would have ever been for women voting.

Has our economy been flourishing the last 7 years?

I wouldn't call it flourishing, but improvement has largely been fueled by spending right? Where would it be without the trillions spent by the fed? Or by the massive deficits we've run the past 7 years. All they did was make one problem significantly worse to temporarily address a different problem.

What we've seen is similar to someone's neighbor boasting about their new BMW, the remodeled house, and the steak their eating three nights a week. Before he drove a 93 Camry, his house looked like it was the Brady Bunch's, and he ate some variety of potatoes every night. But he didn't get a better paying job, find a new source of income, or adjust his budget to pay for all this. He put it on the credit cards and had a friend loan him money. It may look like he's "flourishing", but he's paid for none of it and has no means to do so. It's an extremely temporary change.

The US can't keep doing that. The U.S. finances are the greatest threat to its stability, and I don't think it's something that can be fixed anymore. Regardless of who is elected. The tipping point just may get here sooner depending on who wins.

You and I have entirely different definitions of what freedom is, buddy. I consider freedom the ability for myself and my family to walk around in public without the fear that a private citizen, who thinks he is Rambo, will be "defending himself" and start shooting.

Funny that you fail to mention any fear of a criminal.

I will need to take some time on my computer at work to respond to those. It is too difficult to do on an iPhone. I will try to do that tomorrow morning.

So you are ok with theft? No to guns but ok with stealing time from your employer? Says a lot.

If you want to get technical about it, if not for private gun ownership none of us would have the right to vote.
