guess who else is 3-8?

I’m actually feeling sorry for Nico that his moronic dad put him in this situation. It’s gone way worse than I thought was possible. This game tonight just exposed the truth in a profound and painful way. How can any hopeful P4 team pay him anything?

Think of what Vols record would be if Nico stayed? 6-6 is likely.

And with Appalachian State’s QB? 8-4 to 9-3.

Nico will be remembered as a sad and cautionary tale.

I don't post much but OP that is a sad post. Celebrating kids to fail. Wow. Hopefully it makes you feel better about your life to see others struggle. If so, congrats. We all make good choices, we make bad choices. Let's see how it plays out. But rooting for the failure of others is pretty weak. The Vols had a great night... maybe be happy about that versus tearing others down.

As a fellow and proud alum, think about that post. Did you play football at UT? I did not.

But, at age 58, I can tell you that there is usually a whole lot more to the story than the story I hear.

The villain here is Nico’s dad. It’s not Nico.

that's ironic because the story I "heard" is that it was Nico's dad that was the issue. And I do believe that there's more the that story than it was just Nico's dad that was the issue.

just like it's Boo's mom who was the issue. that's the story I heard.

Nico and Boo had the chance to make the right choice. They did not. these things aren't hard. the conscious isn't that hard to miss. you choose to miss it.

Nico's story is no different than Judas or Benedict Arnold. its just my job to bear witness to the fall and to tell the tale of woe so than none may make the same mistake none may forget. nothing more.

I don’t hate Nico, but I sure as hell don’t owe him any respect. He’s an adult. He knew what he was doing when he left the day before the spring game. Got a lot of bad advice. Strangely got “homesick” 3+ months after the 24 season ended for UT, after more than two years in Knoxville. Wasn’t an issue until then.

And it’s poetic justice that the guy he supplanted at UCLA becomes a star player for us, bigger than he ever was, at least in reality.

Sometimes it’s good to see people get what they deserve.

I feel no animosity towards Nico. It's over and done with. I've moved on. And as more of the story came out, it was his father, not he, that tried to extort even more money out of UT. And like my older brother said, Nico came from a culture where you damn well better listen to and go along with your parents. And it turned out that we benefitted from the trade with Nico going to UCLA and Joey Aguilar coming to Knoxville. It paid dividends. Be happy about that. And quit with worrying about or trying to throw shade at Nico Iamaleava. He's a part of our past and isn't one of us anymore.

That UCLA team is bad, so I doubt JA would elevate them to an 8 or 9 win team. Their defense and skill players are worse than what we have. If things stayed the way they were, we probably have a similar record. JA has been good, but he's not taken over a game and won it for us, it's been a collective effort. I think maybe the Syracuse game, he made some good throws.

That “kid” was making millions from the university and fans abd made a deliberate decision to try and cripple UT by leaving last minute over what he thought would be more $.

I absolutely love seeing the consequences of HIS own actions.

He’s not a kid. He’s 21 and making millions.

When do we stop calling young adults
KIDS......18 -19 year old is not a kid
They are legally adults and we all make bad choices.... Go Vols......

Nico was a wrong fit for Tennessee. Always was, in hindsight. Not really a leader, at least not in the way that our team needed one. His dad seems to have given him really bad advice along the way. Might be more to that debacle, but nothing that makes me lament Nico’s departure. We’re better off. College football as a whole might be better off because we said, “Not just no. Heck no!” to his delusional demands.

Let’s focus on this great story of Joey Aguilar. He got it done tonight in the Swamp. No one since Casey Clausen has done that.

We would have a similar record as we do now .

Joey had more passing yards and better QBR than Nico did as RSFr, but Nico kept the offense on the field longer.
We don't lose that Oklahoma game if Nico was at QB.

We probably get beaten by UGA by more than FG
Lose to Alabama maybe?
Lose to Arkansas at home. Because their offense was clicking all of a sudden.

Nico threw for 19 TDs. Joey has 23.
Nico threw 5 INTs. Joey has thrown 10.
Nico also ran for 11 1st down for Tennessee last season that kept drives alive, and led us to winning games. Joey did everything he could to beat UGA but we lost anyway.

NIco led us to the playoffs. Joey will not this season at least this season.

So far their scoring isn't all that disimaler individually. Nico in 13 games vs Joey with 11.

His father screwed him. You all are complaining about that for this one season. Nico has to live with that fact for the rest of his life....
That's tough. Have a little perspective on ANYTHING for once.

Joey should be saying thanks every day and multiple times on Saturdays. That UCLA team is bad all over the field.

Nico’s move made no sense when it happened and it looks worse and worse every week. From a playoff team playing in packed SEC stadiums every week…to a dumpster fire that can’t draw 15k. Mind boggling!
