Greg McElroy just called out the Tennessee Oline on SEC network

Occasionally D4H speaks the truth, he's dead right on this.

I know, it's weird right? Had to agree with his last 2 posts. That makes it 2 of his last 3,412....but it's still 2.

Should I be concerned? Got a checkup scheduled with my Internist for Tuesday.

This has always been our weakness. Dobbs threat to pull the ball and run on the read option is the only thing that has masked it.

When we don't utilize the threat of the run like last week, then our o-line gets exposed.

The most humorous thing in all this is the people that want Dormady inserted. I guess they have little regard for that kids well-being if they want him to play behind this o-line without amazing scrambling abilities.

I don't think that ANY of us, including YOU have seen QD enough to know what kind of escape or scrambling ability he has.

Unless it's a rerun Herbstreet just called them out on effort.

That's silly. Effort was not the issue.

no what hurts is we need a dual threat QB who can pass and not just run, the defense can pin it's ears back after Dobbs, he makes bad decisions when you blitz him

If this doesn't get the OL fired up then nothing will. Maybe just maybe they will come out and blow VT DL off the ball all game!

I'm glad Iceman had an arm, guts and smarts. His feet looked like he was running with snow skis on.

Haha. Good analogy.

I thought he looked like he was a marionette or something when he ran....just couldn't see the puppet master strings.

It was like his legs were made of wood and were liable to break/splinter with each step he took. Just no way he could break 3 minutes in the 40. Great QB though.

I'm not worried. I'm betting the house that this oline comes out with hot fire in their eyes and a bee in their knickers. VT's run defense is suspect at best. Hurd should get 130+.

They thought they would simply show up and man handle them effortlessly...and before they knew it...our O-line was getting embarrassed on national tv by undersized Sunbelt League scrapy B@$T@£D$ that played fast as a synchronized unit. Everything starts seeming like it is in slow motion and in your head you're like this ain't supposed to be happening I'm better than you.....but you're shell shocked and keep making mistakes. It happens to the best teams in all conferences.

Second...we have to run Dobbs. Gotta unleash him. If he doesn't run it at least 12 times a game we will not win big games....plus run the fake of the jet sweep...then our faster agile linemen will look the part. This entire team...staff and players basically dumbed down the offense and established the mindset that this is a cake walk...except there was no cake.

Since you cats brought him up, he's doing a great job turning a SoCal public school program around. In the backyard of Bieber and Kardashian, football stars abound

Sometimes a QB gets skiddish from having to scramble too much and never learns to trust his pocket.

If Thomas is hurt he should be replaced at Center. Wiesman can move over to C and possibly even Robertson. Then to fill in the OG spot that opens up you have capable replacements in Jones, Boulware, Mosley and Sanders. Things will get better on the OL when Hall comes back. The other backups are all freshmen and really not ready to play yet...Tatum. Johnson and Niehaus.

I really don't get how people think Hall coming back will automatically make our OL much better.

He was good last year, but he wasn't great by any means. His presence alone won't fix our OL.

Spot on. Perhaps if some will recall how the Bama game ended last year, they'll follow your lead Darth and temper expectations just a bit.

I think McElroy is exactly right and he's usually spot on with these things. We need to see Boulware at guard and open up competition at center... But I'm not paid to make those decisions. Also where is Jack Jones? Hurt? I think there is more talent and depth than we've seen and we will have to start using that. Wiesman and Thomas did not impress me last week. Surely we are at a place where someone can step in and there isn't much drop off.

I have to agree with a lot of this.
Average fans were saying this during the game, after the game, the next day on threads and several after.

And that's by no means a shot at McElroy, he's just doing his job. But it's not exactly applause worthy either.
Didn't exactly take footage a week later to know why the toilet was overflowing, pretty sure everybody knows the issue. Now we just better hope we find a good plumber.

I think the point is, folks who truly know football are pointing it out as well. So it's more than just VN being "nega-Vols" as the blind homers want to say.

Absolutely and I've defended Butch Jones and co up until this season bc we just weren't "there" yet but this year we've really have the best chance we've had in a long time of getting to Atlanta and giving Bama (it's always gonna be Bama) a game. So a lot of the "excuses" go out the window now. It's put up or shut up. Whether you're realistic about it or not most Vol fans can agree this should be Butch's best statistical season and we've waited thru hell and mattress fires to get to it.

Well here's one thing you can bank on. The Oline played like **** in game one. No matter what they do in tonight's game you can bet they will play like **** again at some point in the season. The opposition is not going to get any easier as the season unfolds.

The light's not coming on from game 1 to game 2 for the Oline to have stellar play the rest of the year.

Until Dobbs gets hurt or completely melts down- we have to stick with him for the mental stability of the team. He is our leader , period.
