We’re not becoming isolationist
This is NOT what is happening. What's happening is, as Aretha Franklin would say, R E S P E C T is what the world has now for Trump and the US. Something the world did not have for Biden and limp-wristed effeminate liberals who hate the US and have destructive policies. Not in the traditional sense such as leading up to WWII but we are weakening alliances and relationships with trading partners. Also, by dialing back the soft power that was started in the 60s our influence is waning. Bullying and coercion won’t sustain our historical standing. Constantly flipping tariff / no tariff and imperialism doesn’t lead to trust. Less trust leads to isolation.
the new "framework of a future deal" announced by President Trump involves the U.S. getting involved in Greenland's mineral rights, potentially granting the U.S. a right of first refusal on strategic minerals like rare earths, alongside military cooperation and a proposed "Golden Dome" missile defense system, in exchange for dropping tariff threats against European allies, though specific details are still emerging and Greenlandic officials stress their sovereigntyI still haven’t heard any details on exactly what this latest and greatest deal ever done on the defense of Greenland exactly provides that isn’t already covered in the existing agreement. In fact the existing agreement looks pretty freaking flexible. Thus just like Venezuela it looks more and more like a (attempted thus far) resource grab.
Thanks for confirming it’s a resource grab with no additional flexibility added enabling a stronger defense of Greenland.the new "framework of a future deal" announced by President Trump involves the U.S. getting involved in Greenland's mineral rights, potentially granting the U.S. a right of first refusal on strategic minerals like rare earths, alongside military cooperation and a proposed "Golden Dome" missile defense system, in exchange for dropping tariff threats against European allies, though specific details are still emerging and Greenlandic officials stress their sovereignty
It’s a resource protection imo. China cannot buy it if the US has the first right of refusal. It ensures that if anyone gets it it’ll be the good guysThanks for confirming it’s a resource grab with no additional flexibility added enabling a stronger defense of Greenland.
Nothing in the existing treaty precludes the establishment of Golden Dome. Which is largely a space based system like Reagan’s Star Wars was anyway.
If that rationalization helps you think this was all warranted ok then. And at least we all agree now that Greenland will retain their sovereignty… right? It’s a resource protection imo.
