I personally believe it should be strictly Greenland's choice. Denmark can kick rocks as much as America can when it comes to their self-determinism.

It should be. Let Greenland and Denmark figure out their relationship going forward also. We have no dog in that fight either as far as I'm concerned.

The problem is that Greenland is too poor to have singular say in their self-determination. They'll be dependent on someone, so their best hope is to hear all offers and have the freedom to choose the one they want. That's why I have no problem with the US telling Denmark to sit back and shut up for a minute while we talk.

Denmark doesn't need to be limiting Greenland's options and trying to tell everyone it's for Greenland's benefit.

The appeal of Greenland is the rare Earth metals. Every defense item requires a lot of them and China has an enormous share of them, including mines in Greenland.

Greenland has made it abundantly clear they want no part of us and if they haven’t choose between the two, they choose Denmark.

What I've read is that negotiations continue. Man-on-the-street interviews with Greenlanders seems that there is a huge sentiment that detest Denmark and are very open to negotiating new treaties with the US--if not being bought.

What'll happen here, I suspect, is that the US will get more control of mining, defense and say-so in the shipping lanes. Greenland will get better "care" than they're getting from Denmark.

If there’s a drone war in the future and the winner is determined by who has the largest number which is driven by access to rare Earth metals, is it worth it to ensure you have a supply equal to or greater than your enemy now? If you let folks be, it’s pretty obvious they choose China. Pretty much everybody is.

I’m willing to risk it and potentially sacrifice my kids by saying no, let’s embrace isolationism, I’m tired of the bickering. But who knows, maybe the answer is now is your one chance to ensure your future.

That seemingly has its merits but would we be good with PRC negotiating directly with the Marshall Islands or Palau on a sweet deal for their strategically sited resources though?

Yeah. And I’m sure the Native Americans told the colonists something similar.

Nobody on capital hill is opposing this.
Trump is an easy target, but Washington is absolutely on board with this.

Greenland right now has a choice. Denmark is not the practical choice. They need to make the right choice or it will be made for them. It’s a terrible choice but they have to do it.
