Greenland

That is so stupid.

Republican Senate Armed Forces Chair, Roger Wicker, from the fire engine red state of Mississippi, has said that with the existing agreement, the United States already has what is needed in Greenland for purposes of strengthening our national security. There is no threat of foreign expansion into Greenland, where the United States has a military foothold.

There is no push among Republicans in Congress to annex Greenland. There has been a great deal of blowback to Stephen Miller's ignorant and insane rhetoric concerning an American takeover.

Your tone deaf nonsense represents the cultish need to defend EVERYTHING Trump does or says.

Its pretty simple, looks like Trump is trying to get any remaining resources before the whole thing goes up in smoke. 🤷‍♂️

If Trump actually wants to do the right thing here with Greenland, he needs to put big giant ****ing cash on the table. Pay Denmark for the territory, but more importantly, pay big money to raise the standard of living in Greenland. Give them a reason to want to join us.

All this retarded power flexing by Trump is just stupid.

I actually think the United States potentially acquiring Greenland would be a major coup similar to us buying Alaska from Russia back in the day. That proved an amazing investment.

But just stop with the sabre rattling and threats.

I think that is the end result (if we even get Greenland).

I am still not that confident we truly want Greenland and are angling for some kind of deal.

Republican Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana said that annexing Greenland by military force would be "weapons-grade stupid."

Republican House of Rep. Don Bacon (Nebraska - 2nd District) said, "This is appalling. Greenland is a NATO ally. The way we're treating them is really demeaning."

Republican Senate Appropriations Chairwoman, Susan Collins, of Maine said, "I am not for the United States taking over Greenland either by military means or financial incentives."

Republican Senator, Lisa Murkowski, of Alaska said, "I hate the rhetoric around either acquiring Greenland by purchase or by force."

Republican Senate Armed Forces Chair, Roger Wicker, of Mississippi, said, "This is a topic that should be dropped."

In particular, Stephen Miller's interview on CNN, has generated more Senate Republican Party pushback than what has been normal during either one of Donald Trump's terms. Stephen Miller is like a crazed, cartoon character villain from the 1960's. Stephen Miller seems too ugly, loud, animated and hyperbolic to be a real person. Stephen Miller is like "Snidely Whiplash" from Dudley Do-Right and "Dick Dastardly" from Wacky Races. In other words, Stephen Miller is a perfect fit for the Trump Administration.
You hit the nail on the head with Stephen Miller.

He is a mother f****** brown shirt Nazi b****.

But hey he serves at the pleasure of President Trump, so Stephen Miller is in fact a reflection of President Trump.

Simply strengthening and reconfirming our existing claims on Greenland would be a desirable result. That defense agreement is quite old. We can never give up our existing footprint with Russia being a threat on just the other side and adversaries’ naval assets having a bigger presence up there. If Denmark isn't a competent manager it needs to be made clear that we’ll step up if necessary.

Resources need to be kept from ending up in the hands of China, Russia, and Iran as well. Floating economic incentives directly to the Greenlanders is a good idea.

Talk to me when he meets an ex president on a tarmac to ensure his wife’s presidential run isn’t derailed by an investigation. Words seem to make you cry.

My NC rep got it right...

U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis, the North Carolina Republican who cochairs the bipartisan NATO Observer Group, took to the Senate floor Jan. 7 to deride Miller's comments as "amateur hour" and declared he is "sick of stupid."

Tillis rubbed that in later in the day in his own CNN interview, suggesting that Miller should either know what he's talking about or quit his job.

Couldn't read the article.
The article is misleading...the 3 billion has nothing to do with his policies as POTUS...it from increase of his media company stock value...now you could argue that increased because of being visible as POTUS but then the losses from the first term we need to be taken into account to...it all left wing propaganda word games and manipulation for the educated confirmation bias voters.

Wait! Are you saying that one of our beloved leftists posted something that was false? Say it ain't so.

Uh, a lot of the article is about how he invested heavily in crypto and deregulated it as President, then launched a meme coin for his cult to spend a lot of money on. That's not just "media company stock value"

has Trump even reached out about building a new base, or increasing the existing assets on the island?

your point would make sense if there had been some breakdown that needed correcting. but Trump is "fixing" a problem that didn't exist, and thus created the problem.

True I should have stated that better and include crypto...but his policies had no direct impact on crypto .the value would have increased either way..so the artcle is still misleading. I'm sure we will disagree.. Let just agree to that and move on.

I think the "problem" (right or wrong) is that the US is not the manager, bouncer and doorman with authority to say who gets near, gets in, and gets what. I suspect that's the deal Trump is angling toward, as well as right of first purchase for natural resources.

Why don't you post some legitimate numbers instead of everyone posting whatever is floating around?

As far as I can tell the U.S. is telegraphing its own hand. Meaning, the monetary offers should have already been given, instead they have gone to sanctions, piracy, trade restrictions, acts of war, etc. The U.S. giving someone phony money than going on to tell them how they can use it, or not use it.

You give me $10T, what can I do with it? Are they going to tell me I can only invest in U.S. Treasuries?

Respectfully, I think we may be talking about different things. I did not follow the context for this.

It might be foolish for an entity to be promised any amount of money, the larger the sum, the more suspect. We're seeing basically capital controls not only from the U.S. but other countries now like China.

It very well might be like Trump offering Enron stock for Apple share in January 2001.
