Most of these "ventures" are companies repackaging existing long term capex activity and calling them investments. For example, Deere pledged to invest 20B over 10 year, which sounds great until you realize they have averaged 2-2.5B in annual domestic cap ex for the past few years. Apple did the same thing and got called out for it...

A ton of these ventures are getting tens of billions of corporate welfare from CHIPS and IRA...

You guys are being ridiculous. I can’t even believe we have a thread on this.

The only reason we bombed Venezuela is because they stole our oil and Maduro refused to count votes in an election that he clearly lost and therefore everybody agrees he was a dictator. Also drugs and stuff.

It would be absolutely crazy for us to do anything even remotely like that in Greenland. What have they stolen? Who is their dictator?

One other comment. Bush 2.0, Obama, Trump 45, Biden, and Trump 47 all signed Congressional spending bills. They deserve as much, if not more of the blame for the $38T. TCJA, IRA and OBBBA, for example, was the administration's spending wishlist that were introduced by proxies in Congress and passed with major executive branch pressure....

How would he do that, go to Quantico, steal some tanks and hock them? His family dealings with countries we engage with are pretty slimey. Government business at his properties and selling trinkets to dimwits is new ground too.

The whole narrative has been the threat of Russian and (especially) Chinese presence/attention to Greenland. I'm not saying that it's true. I am saying that it's not "nothing" either.

You think this is the most ridiculous thing the U.S. has done even say in 2024, like install a terrorist puppet in Syria. Your country not only helped remove the country's political control (by bombing, arming, and funding), your country installed a puppet that is part of a terrorist group that killed 1,000s of Americans -- which was the reason supposedly the U.S. was in the middle east to start with.

There is nothing new about your country being the bully, they're just being open about it.

You're the one who said he was using it as his personal till, I wanted to know what you meant.

While you obviously do not like it, his foreign dealings are in line with his existing businesses. With regards to Government business at his properties, I would agree if there is overcharging, which also must take into account the nature of the visitors. It's not like you or me are the ones checking in.

If we're talking about how smart someone is and you play up the fact that they know their multiplication tables, then yes it suggests you think that fact is meaningful and/or relevant
