Your post actually articulates the point I was making. We have posters who fit the extreme spectrum... irrationality , homerism, pessimism. Lumping everybody who disagrees with IE onto one end of that spectrum is unfair and hypocritical.

And to think our lone returning starter was Cam Tatum (0 pts last Saturday).

How this guy has pulled this off...is nothing short of amazing. If UT finishes with an above-.500 conference record it will defy every bit of conventional wisdom ever put forth about this team. How could CCM not be a shoe-in for SEC Coach of the Year?

I didn't think UT would have double digit wins this year, so there's my mea culpa. Sometimes confession is good for the soul...:::ahem::: ...

Should Indiana have fired Tom Crean after half of his first season there? It's called rebuilding, this program got set back quite a bit(not IU level) and CCM had his hands full.

None of the former players left over played the type of ball CCM wanted. He was implementing a completely different system and trying to re tool guys who were never asked to play defense. The fact you wanted it to go completely smoothe and not have a hiccup says a lot about your knowledge of the game.

CCM was known for benching hot players and drawing up 40 ft last second shots? Seriously? That was a Pearl trademark you clearly don't watch these ganes, or atleast not sober.

Do you not remember some of Pearls losses he suffered? We're you calling fit his head after the first 15 games too?

First you compare Martin's situation and style to Coach K and then Roy Williams. Now you're comapring him with Tom Crean? Wow.

This is a good post and I happen to agree that CCM is headed towards an SEC coy and if he gets us to the tourny he deserves consideration for NCOY.

I don't know how it can be any more simple.

The first half of this season we sucked. Our offense sucked, our defense sucked, we had bad losses and our players were lifeless and lazy. After the Memphis game I was done with Martin based on his scheming, game coaching, and results.

Since then Martin has changed his style on the bench, gotten something clicking with the players, is drawing up plays that work, and substituting with some level of sense. They are beating teams on the road rather than losing to AP at home.

Had Martin's second half been like the first half it would have been enjoyable to watch the slurpers continue blaming the players for sucking. But it is obviously more enjoyable to watch them win and I'm glad Martin turned it around when it looked like he was in way over his head.

Now for those of you that want to continue calling me stupid and such, have at it. I couldn't care less. If you disagree with me I'm more than willing to have a spirited debate. Maybe I'm right, maybe you're right, but more than likely it's somewhere in the middle.

Once again the comparison on coaches is showing you, pay attention to this part: THAT ALL 3 coaches, AND MANY MORE HAVE HAD BAD LOSSES AND HAD TEAMS QUIT FOR ATLEAST A GAME. IF THESE COACHES WERE EVALUATED UNDER YOUR CRITERIA THEY NEVER WOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE CHANCE TO PROVE THEMSELVES AND BE WHERE THEY ATE TODAY.



Is that really that hard for you to get?

IMO. Coaching has been the same: offense, defense, schemes, substitutions, techniques, play callings, patterns, intensity etc. to me IMO all that has been the same all year.

Ccm has said himself the players started to buy in to what he is selling. If you have a group of guys that are dead set on playing one way and won't listen to what you're teaching what are you supposed to do.

Ccm has said himself players are listening now and buying in to how things need to be done to be successful. So yes IMO coaching for the most part has been the same, the difference is the players attitudes and deciding to buy in to what he is teaching. The best example is Jordan McRae, go watch how he played early and the year and how he's playing now, NIGHT & DAY.

In other words: You made a knee-jerk reactionary claim based on an extremely small sample size.

I didn't expect you to admit you were wrong, even though it's been proven already

BTW, you're wrong about Martin too. He hasn't changed anything about how he handles himself on the bench. You just haven't watched too closely

At the time this thread was started we were at odds over results. ( you had a different screen name then)
We were horrible and without in game adjustments at all. We had gone from kicking a$$ and taking names to getting our a$$es kicked and our name was a joke. 95 was at the game and the memphis players were laughing in our players faces. You show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser. As I have said we may have turned a corner. I posted a several days ago that if we win out he deserves coy honors. Does it trouble you when I post something positive about CCM?

No I don't care if you post positives about him, it makes mr happy to see him being supported. I just found it ironic that hot seat for Martin and coach of the year for Martin were in the same thread.

It's really veryvsimple my man, this is why you don't make knee jerk reactions, most of the time things have a way of working out. This is the perfect example, a month ago we got fans calling for his firing, now we have fans proclaiming c.o.y. Instead of being so mad after a loss you wanna call for the coaches head, go home stay off the message boards and go to bed. If the next day you wake up and that feeling is still as strong then wait another day, and if after that you still feel like you should call for the coaches head then ok. But people have a knack of making quick irrational decisions and statements, that's why it's best to just keep your mouth shut about it and as they teach you when you're young, close your eyes and count to 10.

There was nothing knee jerk about calling Martin out when this thread was created. We sucked in every sense of the word. Maybe you're OK with losing, and losing the way we were. I'm not. I had no evidence to think Martin could turn it around. Hind sight is easy now. Frankly me saying Martin should be fired for the results of the first half isn't much different than the contingent posting we are going to win out and get an NCAA bid.
