The best part about the thread is while he posts in all the other threads he won't step in here and just fess up to an over reaction, and admit that it was a mistake.
A mistake about what? They got kicked in the pills in Memphis. If they didn't improve Martin should have been fired. At that point in the season they were playing lifeless uninspired basketball. Coaching mistakes were plentiful. We were a crappy defensive team who was billing themselves as a good defensive team. Our coach was known for benching hot players and drawing up 40 foot shots at the end of games.
They have improved. Good for them. Martin's seat went from hot to warm. You guys willing to let a coach "develop talent" are killing me. This is NCAA Basketball - not some church league. If you're willing to accept losing to AP at home, then that's what you'll get.
Thats not what you said in your OP.
And you still dont get it. This team got beat by Vandy & Kentucky just as bad/of not worse than they did at Memphis but to you that is improving.
This team was/is going to have major bumps this year. You take the good (beating Florida, Uconn, Kentucky game at home) with the the bad (blowout losess, AP, CoC, Oakland). You dont make irrational statements like 'good bye Cuonzo" and think that because this team isnt an NCAA tournament team that we should fire this coach and hire somebody else.
Winning on the road in conference is hard. Vandy is always a tough place to play. I'll take loses to Vandy and Kentucky in stride. Getting punked by Memphis, litterally embarrassed and laughed at should be unacceptable to most fans.
But obviously there are some that are OK with it. They are probably the kind of fans that compare Martin to Coach K and Roy Williams as well.
A UT coach that loses at home to Austin Peay should be on the hot seat. Period. If not our basketball fans are bigger pansies than I thought.

Did it count more than a 'loss'?
You understand the difference in losing to AP in your 8th game as UT's coach with a depleted roster/no returning guys learning a brand new system, trying to establish a defensive mindset in a group of guys who were not asked to do that under the previous coach....
...or a loss to AP in your 3rd year, with your guys, and your system already in place.
Should we have beaten AP? Hell yes we should have. Were we happy we loss to AP? Hell no we werent.
The fact is some of us understand the process, and you dont. Its ok. Just enjoy it now. This staff is going to do a lot of great things. Maybe youll start to see that now that we are putting ticks in the left column.
Hilarious. Some were content to blame the players. I take a different approach and hold the coach accountable.
Have the players changed? No. Have Martin's style and decisions improved? Yep.
I've seen what hiring the right guy at UT can do. But I've also witnessed, numerous times first hand, what hiring the wrong guy can do. Through the first half of the season we were a crappy team with bad loses. At that point there was no indication that Martin would change anything.

First off, losses has three (s's) in it.
Secondly, if you don't understand that the comparisons to Coach K and Roy were simply hyperbole examples to show you that some of the best coaches have made the same mistakes as our guy, then you're really just not going to ever get it.
