I think he was let go because he wore his hat backwards on several occasions and Pruitt is a traditionalist...

I liked RG but head coaches want who they want...I wish him the best..

May have been the plan all along - stay through signing day to minimize impact on current class and then move on. No one here knows the details. No reason to assume this it is a sign of a problem

Look, RG was a solid coach... but I've always found it funny that he's NEVER taken any heat for the whole Jalen Hurd fiasco and AK's limited role in our offense while he was here. RG was given a total pass.

He clearly lost control of Hurd AND failed to advocate properly for AK's playing time. He's as much to blame as Butch was.

I don't know who recruited Hurd. He is the only great high school back we have signed out of high school. A great RB recruiter should sign a stud running back or 2 every year. We were not getting it done with running back recruiting. IMO.

I hate losing CRG. He seemed very loyal to our program. Turned FL down to remain here a few years ago I believe. Good luck where ever you land coach.

I dont even understand this post? If they ended being great RB's, do star ratings really matter?

All of those running backs I mentioned were some of our most productive in TN football history. How the actual **** is that "not getting it done"?

You have to take one of two paths. Either Butch neutered assistant coaches, and, therefore, none of them deserve credit for anything. Or as Hurd's immediate supervisor, Gillespie failed with respect to Hurd's status and development as a member of the team.

GRIDIRONNOW is reporting sources are saying Gillespie didn't mesh with staff and CJP's identity of the culture changes needed to move the Tennessee program forward. Pruitt found RG had a stale state of mind.
