Gillespie is out

Actually it’s not the norm to retain coaches and RG was held over to complete the recruiting I would imagine. Our fan base freaks out to the extreme over everything. It’s hilarious actually. I’m guessing here but with the connections here I think we’ll be ok. Please try and show a little maturity guys and not scream like a 5th grader seeing a snake. Just some advice for those wanting to save their respect....

I see what you're saying but you're wrong and there's nothing hilarious about it. That's a big loss and after 4-8, and nose diving on signing day, these fans have a right to be upset.

It's always throws me when posters get on and tell folks to be mature. This is a fan forum and when people are upset let them be upset and stfu. Losing Gillespie isn't good no matter how you spin it.

I was excited when we were able to keep Coach G. Not thrilled that it didn't work out, but I'll wait and see who is brought in before I get too upset.

That was my initial thought as well but it's now being reported that he was terminated. Said that he and the rest of the staff "butt heads" several times over the last few weeks.

If that's true, you can't have one guy causing issues with the coaches which in turn could cause division in the team.

Get rid of the problem now before it becomes a bigger one. Again if this is true, then this is the right move.

It's far from a big loss. Our RB's have underachieved from day 1.

Thank goodness you posted this. It could have gotten really bad. Good job.

Another thing that's being reported is that Pruitt has been less than impressed with Gillespie's recruiting and that he is absolutely "on the warpath" with the way we closed in recruiting for the 2018 class.

gonna wait for an official release, but to say I'm surprised is putting it mildly...out of left field type of surprised...and,

GO VOLS!

I could see why he might be a little upset lol

I never was excited about this staff...Still not...You try to stay positive about things but there it is glaring right back at you like a bad toothache that just won't go away...This wait and see crap is old and very outdated...We all KNOW how the movie ends...Depressing

If this wasn't VN I would find it hard to believe people are getting depressed over the loss of a RB coach, but this VN after all.

I’d guess that it was based on both the recruiting results and contract issue. I hate that he’s gone, but who knows the grand plan other than Pruitt and we just need to see who comes in and what the results are.

Coach handling things , no nonsense approach.

I love it , he is no bull****ter ... he needed to go and he went

Guaranteed he brings someone else in higher regarded

Dell Mcgee is making 375k... pay him 600k to get him on board and lets roll..

Mcgee>Gillespie every day of the week and twice on Saturday.

Everyone wanted Butch & his staff fired.

Pruitt and his staff hasn’t even coached a game yet and now everyone is already having second thoughts.

This place is so comical.

I'm not going to worry until the season starts and we start losing games.

There is no denying that Gillespie was an elite recruiter and coach. This is a big loss.

Losing him is pretty disheartening TBH and makes me wonder what arguments went on internally for him to be let go. Also, I wonder what the team thinks about this.

This shocked me... but maybe we can pull Jay Graham back home or possibly Eddie Gran with his connection to Pruitt at FSU

First, Gran is OC at Kentucky, why would he take a demotion? Secondly, Gran and Pruitt weren’t at FSU together. Gran was with Tuberville at Cinncy in 2013.

not gonna lie, i wasn't exactly excited when i heard about this. just took me by surprise.

i like CRG, and think he's been very good for our program, and he was held over from the previous staff, which i took to mean that he's every bit as well thought of as we thought he was.

so, i'm surprised, and disappointed, that it's not working out.

all that said, i'll hold off on actually freaking out about this until we (hopefully) find out more about why/what happened.....

and more importantly.....

who is replacing him.............so with that, thanks CRG, appreciate ya, and good luck wherever you wind up....so long as it's not a competitor of ours that is.

This is fine. He was a good coach. But, I don't think he was the recruiter everyone made him out to be. At least from looking at the running back recruits. We have not been great in this area in a while. Change was probably needed.
