Gerrymandering in Virginia

and so now you are FOR property taxes?

I would rather FIX issues to protect rights, rather than create new issues to take away more rights.
I didn’t say I was for them at all. I was bemoaning the fact that we have to pay them. The way the system works, we never OWN property in the U.S.; we are basically paying rent to government for the privilege of living there.
And I don’t think that is what the founders intended at all.

yeah, so can our 2A, even without the Dem crazies. I doubt you support taking 2A rights away from those on welfare.

freedom of speech is restricted.

all rights have restrictions, doesn't mean they shouldn't apply to all citizens.
Speech is not restricted.

The “examples” you’ll parade are not restrictions on speech, but issues of property rights.

I can't wait to watch you squeal when the shoe is on the other foot in 28. You reap what you sow and Republicans comeuppance is coming for what they've done to this country.
It’s a terrible look for Tennessee. But MAGA doesn’t care as long as their puppet master is pleased. MAGA is always compliant, they bend over and sell their souls.

Nope. They don't care about anything. The Constitution, child rape, voting rights, fraud, corruption. Just so long as it pisses off the libs, it's hilarious to them. America and consequences be damned.

Sometimes geographic features like ridges and rivers are cultural and or economic boundaries. So sometimes relatively long narrow districts are justified.
Yes, there would obviously be exceptions. Some states would also only have the one district.

No conviction, no principles. Spineless and feckless.

Nope, the national map is finally about to flip. Between republicans redistricting in Texas and in the South, and the upcoming 2030 Census; the democrats are in danger of becoming a minority party for the next two generations.
Their only hope would be to move back to the sane center. Focus on economy, jobs, and community safety. Leave the hot button social issue loonies out in left field where they belong.
And before you talk about the right wing having a fringe; I would counter that the Republicans rally haven’t moved much further to the right than they were in the 90‘s. The dems just moved so far to the left that Republicans, staying were they were already, seem like extremists.
Remember when Geraldene Ferraro said that she personally opposed abortion even though she thought it should remain legal?
Remember when Bill Clinton said that abortion should be „safe, legal, and rare“.
Remember when Bill Clinton pushed for work requirements for Welfare?
Heck, I can even remember when Barack Obama opposed gay marriage.
Any of these moderate, centrist positions would elicit howls of rage from the democrat party today.
Come back to the Center and you might be surprised how well we could all work together again.

When the Dems run the table in a few years its over. Court packing will end all of this. Is what it is. Both parties are retarded

Especially if the Rs can get non citizens excluded from the reapportionment calculations.
How would the Census be changed so it reflects citizenship or legal residence? It seems it would have to become more intrusive and more expensive for minimal benefit.

Founding Fathers fought taxation without representation. We live in a world of taxation because of ****** representation.

So you're only against Republican abuse of power? Sounds like you'll openly cheer when it's the Democrats' turn to abuse power.

That's what's wrong with this country. Both sides of the spectrum seem to believe it's okay as long as it's their people doing it.

In case you missed it, things haven't been great under either party. Politicians suck because they serve party, not country, not constituents, but party. And it's both sides. It's Republicans. It's Democrats. Neither side is innocent in this.

Isn't California taking steps to do similar, only in favor of Democrats? I swear I read or heard that. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if other "blue" states attempted the same. People need to face facts that politicians simply do not care about the constituency or what the constituency wants. It doesn't matter which side of the aisle they are on; they're not serving the people. Be outraged at all of it. Not just when it's the "other side" doing it.

Nothing but adding a question would need to change.

so fix it, instead of making it worse by stripping away rights.

how is not yelling "fire" in a public space a property rights issue?
how is slander/libel a property right issue?
its well established that the government can punish you for those.

are you confusing two different issues here?

But what if a 1 year old or an incarcerated felon?
I don't think the speech of either of those is any more restricted than the average citizen.

are you guys even paying attention to what you write?

That court case is wrongly used as an example of "restriction of free speech" and is an urban myth

Slander/Libel is a crime because it has the potential to cause actual monetary/proprietary damage

Prepare for disappointment. The democrats have sown the wind and now they are reaping the whirlwind.

Dude, speech just like any right cannot be used to harm others. Yelling fire in a crowded theater hurts others, it's the most ignorant example people use trying to say there are 1A restrictions.

If you want a good example of how various levels of government restrict speech just look at the adult industry, how boobie bars are restricted, age verifications on internet pern and so on and so on.

Similar outrage rage for places like Virginia? Other Northeast states for their similar endeavors to stifle their political opponents voices and representation?

If not your words are empty and you really aren't all that different from MAGA where rubber meets road.

Many Democrat and Republican majority states have done this, though most of the examples I'm aware of have been Democrat. The polarization of this country has risen significantly. I think if most people were honest with themselves they'd have to admit neither party truly represents their interests any longer.
