Gerrymandering in Virginia

if you change one district, another district must be changed, and so on and so on.

VA had to have a public referendum to enact a state constitutional amendment to enact such..and not every state has such. It certainly isnt some altruistic will of the people concern. In fact, it may not even still be valid.

To the conservative justices being unconstitutional..well I am about at a loss of words, other than Tough ****.
I actually laughed on the last sentence haha.

But for real though, SCOTUS putting a blind eye on the U.S. constitution numerous times leads the door to corruption or even another civil war. I hope that never comes to fruition, but anything is possible. 🤷

yea..the ones who determine constitutuonality rule unconstitutionally.

make it make sense.

Republicans control 30 state delegations and Democrats control 18 state delegations.

As of May 2026, Republicans hold 48 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives from states currently under "Democratic trifecta" control (where Democrats hold the governorship and majorities in both legislative chambers).

As of May 2026, Democrats hold 52 U.S. House seats in the 23 states currently under a Republican trifecta (where Republicans control the governorship and both chambers of the state legislature)

I keep hearing democrats crying “Jim Crow! Jim Crow!” and talking about how hard it had been for blacks in the South to get the right to vote.

So what I am wondering; is there a single black American that had the ability to vote last Monday that doesn’t have the right to vote today?

I don’t think that is the gripe. Nice pivot, though.

  • Chuck Schumer: Stated the ruling is "another step towards resurrecting the Jim Crow South" and upends decades of civil rights progress.
  • Hakeem Jeffries: Denounced the decision as a "critical blow" and labeled the conservative majority an "illegitimate" "Trump Court".
  • Senator Raphael Warnock: Described the ongoing impact of such rulings as "21st-century Jim Crow tactics in new clothes," citing voter suppression, such as purging rolls and closing polls in minority communities.

Do you have anything to refute that or naw?
Yes.

Jim Crow: A series of laws aimed at disenfranchising black voters by means specifically targeting black populations to render them ineligible to vote.

Poll taxes. Literacy tests. White-only primaries (at least for the Democrats). The “Grandfather Clauses.”

The Supreme Court now: Districts drawn based solely on race violate the Equal Protection clause.

In short: Jim Crow violates the Voting Rights Act. Jim Crow laws are illegal. Racially drawn districts violate the Constitution. Racially drawn districts are illegal.

That’s probably not good enough for you, but that is where the law stands right now.

Jim Crow skirted the existing voting rights to prevent Blacks in the South from choosing representatives of their own. This is a different method to achieve the same ends. So no, this isn’t technically Jim Crow, but it’s being done by the same region for the same reasons. (Btw, you don’t have to answer for those less astute)

Why dont Hispanics have the ability to choose representatives of their own currently? More Hispanics here then blacks. We need to solve that problem first. Race should play no part in any of this

I don't have the solution but happy to discuss

The only reasonable solution is to create a bias free algorithm that appropriates the number of state reps by population area rates mixed with proper city/rural representation.

Anything else is simply political
