I actually laughed on the last sentence haha.if you change one district, another district must be changed, and so on and so on.
VA had to have a public referendum to enact a state constitutional amendment to enact such..and not every state has such. It certainly isnt some altruistic will of the people concern. In fact, it may not even still be valid.
To the conservative justices being unconstitutional..well I am about at a loss of words, other than Tough ****.
yea..the ones who determine constitutuonality rule unconstitutionally.I actually laughed on the last sentence haha.
But for real though, SCOTUS putting a blind eye on the U.S. constitution numerous times leads the door to corruption or even another civil war. I hope that never comes to fruition, but anything is possible.![]()
I don’t think that is the gripe. Nice pivot, though.I keep hearing democrats crying “Jim Crow! Jim Crow!” and talking about how hard it had been for blacks in the South to get the right to vote.
So what I am wondering; is there a single black American that had the ability to vote last Monday that doesn’t have the right to vote today?
Yes.Do you have anything to refute that or naw?
Jim Crow skirted the existing voting rights to prevent Blacks in the South from choosing representatives of their own. This is a different method to achieve the same ends. So no, this isn’t technically Jim Crow, but it’s being done by the same region for the same reasons. (Btw, you don’t have to answer for those less astute)Yes.
Jim Crow: A series of laws aimed at disenfranchising black voters by means specifically targeting black populations to render them ineligible to vote.
Poll taxes. Literacy tests. White-only primaries (at least for the Democrats). The “Grandfather Clauses.”
The Supreme Court now: Districts drawn based solely on race violate the Equal Protection clause.
In short: Jim Crow violates the Voting Rights Act. Jim Crow laws are illegal. Racially drawn districts violate the Constitution. Racially drawn districts are illegal.
That’s probably not good enough for you, but that is where the law stands right now.
i am trying to give up cigs, booze and womanizing, so I am trying out new bad habits to see if I find one that I like.Jim Crow skirted the existing voting rights to prevent Blacks in the South from choosing representatives of their own. Why dont Hispanics have the ability to choose representatives of their own currently? More Hispanics here then blacks. We need to solve that problem first. Race should play no part in any of thisJim Crow skirted the existing voting rights to prevent Blacks in the South from choosing representatives of their own. The only reasonable solution is to create a bias free algorithm that appropriates the number of state reps by population area rates mixed with proper city/rural representation. Why dont Hispanics have the ability to choose representatives of their own currently? Race should play no part in any of this
I don't have the solution but happy to discuss
