It was a no knock warrant. They busted in without knocking. Even if they "announced", which is unlikely, it most likely wasn't heard due to fear induced panic. When someone abruptly bursts down your door, your first though isn't "oh wait, I should see who this is", it's "oh ****, what the hell is happening, I better defend myself".you don’t know they didn’t announce themselves
Carjacking someone isn’t “death or serious injury” from the case you keep citing, and there were two cops there but try again
A fleeing violent felon who already assaulted two officers physically and was currently using a weapon taken from officer against an officer is considered a threat. You can try to your mental gymnastics to justify And excuse this criminal’s behavior but I am 100% confident at which way this court case goes“Significant threat”, not any threat that he MIGHT run up on a car AND steal it with a taser AND kill someone else with it
Yep..... they need to ban all no knock warrantsIt was a no knock warrant. They busted in without knocking. Trying to justify the actions of the atl guy is not a good look. That was justified shooting. Sucks for his family but he chose to“Significant threat”, not any threat that he MIGHT run up on a car AND steal it with a taser AND kill someone else with it

Hey genius, when you assault two officers during an arrest and steal their weapon you automatically become a violent felon. I know you aren’t exactly a in-depth guy well-versed on law and legal understanding but at least try to keep upWas he wanted for a violent felony, or did you just turn “drunk guy takes a taser and runs away” to “VIOLENT FELON USING WEAPON TO KILL CIVILIANS” and then accuse ME of gymnastics lol
Believe me. My response was sarcasm. Similar idiocy in your response
There were two officers on scene, right? If he had used the taser on the one and went for his gun, then the other cop would have been justified in shooting him. The whole carjacking thing is a hypothetical meant to deflect. They could have pursued without shooting. They could have even fired a warning shot into the ground. But they did neither of those things. A choice was made, and now the law will decide whether or not it was justified. My personal opinion is there were other, better options, and that lethal force was not needed. We'll see what the courts decide. He could’ve used the weapon to carjack someone, hold them hostage and he could’ve incapacitated the officer and stole his firearm. It’s pretty clear you don’t understand of what you speak of from a legal standpoint

You are never taught to discharge your weapon at anything other than a potential threat. You are responsible for every round fired. Firing into the ground is not a good idea for a number of reasons. There were two officers on scene, right? 1. Drive drunk
2. resist a fair arrest
3. grab a police weapon
4. fire the weapon
All before he was shot. He proved himself a danger to the public then to the officers directly. He proved he was capable of making unjustifiable threatening decisions.
