As has been mentioning numerous times, Shea Ralph will most likely not leave Vanderbilt for UConn. There are many issues, one being state rules against her husband being on her staff. Also, what advantages does Connecticut have over Vanderbilt once Geno Auriemma and Chris Daly leave? She’s building something at vanderbilt, and it’s generally really difficult to follow in the footsteps. I cannot realistically seeing her going to UConn.
Now, I keep seeing constant posts requesting particular coaches being offered the job at Tennessee when that day eventually arises, some feel sooner more than later. Therefore, my question is, in 2026, what advantage does being the coach at Tennessee have for some of the coaches I have heard mentioned on this site over their current school? Other than salary, there has to be reasons a coach would choose a new school over their current school. What advantages does Tennessee offer over Duke University (Lawson)? What advantage does it have over Louisville (Walz)? LSU (KM)? Being a realist, and not being rhetorical, what would cause one of those coaches, or some of the other coaches mentioned in these threads want to come to Tennessee over their current school? Most posters seem to think it is a given that anyone offered the Tennessee position would jump at the opportunity. Other than a rabid fan base, which can have as many negatives as positives, what makes Tennessee more attractive than Duke, LSU, or Louisville? I understand there is a legacy. I also understand there might be some recruiting advantages. However, objectively speaking, how much greater are the advantages (such as resources, NIL, national brand) over another marquee school, such as Duke.
