She was fine in that interview. She was funny, on point and direct. If I had never met her before I would have come away liking her.Personable is approachable,,,you telling me that until she gets up and disrespects the reporters for their lack of questions to Jillian,,, she looks like she wants to be approached,,,NOPE, no way!
Why was Jill there anyway she had 7 pts and 6 boards!??
No, Kim is not making a good impression with the media and it WILL bite her in the arse when they get the opportunity,,bank on it!
I have no problem with JillShe probably averages maybe 2 rebounds a game and the 6 she got here needs to be more a minimum given her height. But she was trying a lot harder so sometimes you need to encourage continued progress. Jill certainy looked happy to be there and was attentive. She seems like a real sweetheart --- even if sometimes we could use a little more brave heart out of her.
It's when her frustration affects her play it becomes a problem. She gets obviously frustrated sometimes then makes bad decisions - ill advised shots, silly fouls, etc. Those little walkabouts are the problem, the facial expressions and body language are the symptoms
I've said before I appreciate her directness and bluntness and think it's part of the Mean Chipmunk persona. Lately since losing a few games, which she's not use to, she seems a little defensive though.
I just hope she has a different gear in the backgound with the team. And I hope it's less accusatory of them and takes some accountability on the staff as well.
Absolutely. She has frequently said in recent pressers how the coaches need to do a better job in fixing these repeated issues with the team, "using we", and so forth. I think people just remember a couple of earlier ones in which she didn't do and now have stereotyped her. It is her personality to always harp on the negative, as it was Pat's. She has owned that she is far from being an optimist. By the way, I have enjoyed most of her pressers even more than Pat's and much more than Holly's and Harper's despite it is clear that she rather not be there. In the past, she has said something to the effect of "I rather be with the team", which is the best reason not to want to be at the presser. I imagine that the press, knowing that she is the midst of a long-distance travel date less than two weeks after having the baby, were respecting this and kept it short. I loved her playful comment to Jillian at the end in which she said with humor in her voice something like "great job, Jillian" in reference to Jillian not having to answer any questions. She literally said "we" every time and "they" not once.
Very well stated. That, plus you (and, of course, chuckiepoo, who never disappoints) have brought back pleasant memories of my brief stay (fall, 81 - spring, 82) in the New Orleans, then Lafayette areas of that marvelous state. Several weeks of that time were spent about 150-miles out in the Gulf, where everything depends on who does the cooking. For a few weeks we had a certified chef, ironically by the name of Smith. What an outstanding cook. Good times. Thanks for the memories.Absolutely. Managed to watch the game again and other than the five over pressing uncontested layups we gave up the defense was very good. The defense in the half court has improved a lot. Their over inflated 46 percent came from the five baskets they made when we went again to trapping one player in the backcourt and they managed to throw over the press to their open player. A thin line between winning by 20 and winning by five cause if you shoot a halfway decent percentage those 14 extra possessions give you that 20 point win. If you shoot thirty five they give you a five point win if you also hit 10 threes to their six.
I hope we don't give UConn anything easy by trapping cause I think our halfcourt defense is good enough now to get a lot of stops. The game is winnable if we find a way to make those layups and mid range shots we are missing. If we don't pile up the fouls and let them shoot free throws all game. 45 percent from the field and 10 threes makes me think would be the recipe for pulling out a big win. If your executing 70 shots which we usually do then that is 31 field goals and an extra ten for the threes gives you 82 points from the field. If you can add just 8 free thorws your at 90 and 90 can win the game our halfcourt defense has looked so much better the last two games even when the offense had failed us.
They only turn it over 11 times per game so we need to get that up to close to 20 while we turn it over half of that. We have a shot to dominate the boards they are not as good a rebounding team as they have been in past years. It is going to take 45 percent to have a chance to win. If we shoot another 35 percent then you can add the loss. We can definitely win. To do so we must win the turnover and offensive rebounds by a total of hopefully fifteen. Then we have to shoot 45 percent from the field. The plus fifteen and 45 from the field would make them have to shoot 56 percent to score the same amount of field goals. They are making 51 percent this season so holding them to that and plus fifteen shots at 45 would be a win for us granted we keep them off the foul line. Losing there by 10 or 12 changes everything.Thing to worry about is they've been preparing for Tennessee for weeks, and Kim has had days to prepare for them. Their ball moment, back-door cuts, ability to face-guard effectively and excellent shooting make them kinda the nightmare matchup for this Tennessee team. They've been running presses for weeks now, so I expect they'll blow right through ours, which puts us out of our main strength right off.
If Coop can stay out of foul trouble (I'm afraid she'll try to do too much) maybe she can get some steals for scores. But we all know there'll be a plan for her. And we also all know that Connecticut evidently rarely fouls, while Tennessee evidently fouls every 10-15 seconds.
Just looks to me like a big matchup problem. They can make shots. We've not been doing so well in that area. But we'll see come Thursday. The Lady Vols are certainly past due for a good shooting game.
