Gabe Lazo Out

Where was Lazo before coming to Tennessee? Where was Tubner before coming to Tennessee? Where was Redus before going to LSU?
You can say you disagree. No harm in it.
But some of stuff is just dumb.
And in all seriousness, it’s not even worth going to these extremes.

Or he got a pay raise or after an even more disasterous season at Fl St. he wanted a change or he and the head coach agreed that a parting of the ways was best. I for one could not be more excited to bring in an assistant coach from a program that in its best years has been middle of the road! Let us clap harder!

I don‘t understand why Ferrara would take this job. He’s an associate head coach now. It would seem like this would be a step down. It seems more likely that he would have been looking for a head-coaching job somewhere, if that is what he wanted. He has 15 years experience…head scratcher for sure.
Reckon Danny brought him in to take over after kim is fired on April 1st?

is that not where it was this year? Did we not finish in a tie with Kentucky and Ole Miss and win the tiebreaker to finish ahead of both of those teams?

That shouldn’t be the goal, even with a remade roster next year. But I think the streak to end the year made some people forget what the actual standings were.
Stop being 8-8. Move forward.

Don’t really matter what you want but if you think Vandy ever as a basketball program will come remotely close to the brand of Tennessee you are feeble minded..
with Oliviyah Edwards and Gabby Minus coming in acting as if Vandy is superior to Tennessee is just dumb. I don’t care how many games they won versus Tennessee recently when the history is what the history is between these schools.

I want to beat Vandy next year. Will it happen? Probably not, but that’s something I want to see.

He’s coming off a season where the team he was helping to coach went 10-21. Florida State is in worse shape than we currently are, and he’s jumping off a sinking ship. If he was a hot coaching commodity coming from a good program, he more than likely wouldn’t be here. Being here for one year, he’s not going to get the blame if we go in another direction after next year. Also, we pay as much money for assistants as a lot of mid majors pay head coaches. There’s plenty of reasons to come.

It wasn’t just the streak. It was the eye test. it was the blame game. It was the countless breakdowns. It was the disorganization on offense. It was Plan A. It was Plan B. It was the players hitting the portal. It was the lack of correcting the correctable. It was the underachieving. And etc.

Funny thing is, people in here are screaming in a group of 10s… when it’s literally hundreds of people on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram saying this is a great hire. This forum has a pocket of fans that simply have no grasp on reality. Nobody is remotely treating this as a bad hire. It is completely the opposite. And that’s coming from people with absolutely no ties to Tennessee. It’s astonishing to sit back and look at the baseless and ridiculous takes… when satisfyingly knowing that it doesn’t go anywhere past these threads.
I love it here🍊.

I would say a couple things:

1) FSU is not invested in their womens bball program at a conference championship contending level.

2) Even if you think your destination is a dumpster fire sometimes those can present the best career opportunities. The boss f-s up next thing you know youre in charge even if only temporarily. Granted baseball was unique but weve seen an AD elevate one assistant. While the chance is very slim its higher than 0% if you are on the bench at FSU. Id take that chance all day.

My guess is that he's assuming CKC will be gone after next year and if he does well in recruiting and bringing in quality players and the offense improves that voila! He will be in the driver's seat for the head coaching job at Tennessee!

Hey, I get it. The LVs next year have a real chance to be the most "elite" team to miss the NCAA tournament, just like we were the most elite team to have an 8 game losing streak!!

Nothing but sun shine and roses !!!!

Preparing for full system as hard and fast as possible. Kimberly is not kidding. We will live or die by the system next year. This guy is known for fast offensive approach. I bet Gabe hated the system.

Possibly anything a bit more recent? That must’ve been over 10 years ago.

If the building of the coaching staff was so elite, why did she just have to fire one of them after only two seasons. Or possibly he quit, but his not having another announced job, just leaving, indicates an unhappy parting of ways.

50, 31 and 21 are not a very equal swap for a recruiter like Gabe, who supported numbers like 2, 5, 3, etc.

Figured Gabe would go, but sure didn’t think it would be without a destination. I’m assuming they had the sense to square it with big O before it happened. If it’s true that she’s already ‘liked’ the new coach Im assuming Big O is all good. That would be Kim’s most impressive wiin in months bc under no circumstances can she now lose big O after ‘parting ways’ with her favorite coach.

Also good that she had a replacement coach ready immediately, just not sure how he’ll be an upgrade, especially in recruiting.

I would love for someone to convince me that it was never true that Gabe was the engine driving the recruiting Lamborghini. Because if he was the recruiting miracle worker, then how in the world do we fire him? He literally revived a completely dead recruiting scene in two years. Took it straight to the top in a way Sam Williams could only dream of.I don’t understand this at all, unless Gabe voluntarily left. If that happened, my guess would be he isn’t all in on the system, having rammed his head into the brick wall as much as he’s willing.
The answer to your question is that Gabe was the disrupter in the locker room and was one of the prime reasons that Kim lost the locker room. Now those that Gabe influenced are now gone along with him.

Exactly! Wouldn’t it be some sh$t if the coach who drove the program into the ditch gets extra grace next year because the program is so darn hard to pull out of the ditch?

If this year was indeed an an aberration of cancerous recruits, then we should pick up next year where we left off in that glorious first year of Caldwell. Players much more carefully selected and 100% system all the time with no Plan B so S16 minimum. Thats what she did her first year and what Harper was fairly routinely doing. She was hired to go further. So actually yes, E8 should be the bar next year but S16 being acceptable.

Also, I would expect next year to take a firm step forward out of middish SEC results. I’d like to see us firmly in that Oklahoma Kentucky Ole Miss second tier just behind the big three.

Yep, you got my point EXACTLY. No freaking way does she get a mediocre “rebuilding year.” She has made it crystal clear that if only everyone had let run her full system we’d have had a better season, so she’ll be sure to only have players willing and able to run it for next season. She really HAS to put her money where her fast-talking mouth is next season. No excuses, no grace period. Put up or move on.

it’s literally hundreds of people on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram saying this
The new standard!

We are a nation of over 341 million souls.

A few hundred of our number most assuredly not randomly selected
have, with varying degrees of grammatical and orthographic atrocity,
uttered opinions in the electronic miasma. And KnutzLikeUs, flailing like a fish on a dock, cites those opinions as his lode star.

I have to admit the thought did cross my mind!
Nah, that would be a PR disaster. DW says Kim is doing great, the university announces that CKC has hired a new assistant after agreeing to part ways with Gabe and then surprise, I, Danny White, am replacing you with the new assistant that I actually hired.

Everyone is getting too hung up in the Danny White as Wizard of Oz trope (no wait, that actually might fit), lets say Danny White as the Machiavellian mastermind pulling all the strings behind the scenes. More likely, he is more focused on Football, getting more NIL $ for football and men;s b-ball, and hoping that it all works out next season for that women, what's her name again to be the coach, for which sport again, yeah, basketball that is the one.

Source? Thats some big accusations.

Why would he risk his career by rebeling? Must have felt strongly about something.

We need that 30 for 30!

👆I erased all the dog crap from the post. In the words of DayDay “he going to cry in the car😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😂😂😂😂😂😂

More recruits, parents, coaches, sports analysts , etc will take Talia Goodman words over any and every single negative post from the same 10s of posters on this forum. That’s why it’s so comical to sit back and observe how hard people like this poster try to keep up this idiotic persona of hubris and speaking directly at others as to be a renowned poster.
Take the keyboard away 😭😭😭😭.
