Gabe Lazo Out

I didn't get a chance to read all 12 pages but what are the odds of Gabe getting fired because of Janiah Barker not panning out.

While she had decent numbers for us, this was her 3rd stop and allegedly she didn't want to play here and the other teams were all taken once she left UCLA. She also was suspended a game for breaking a team rule during the 8 game losing streak. Then the last game of the season all of sudden she falls to "illness" in the first round of the NC State game. I don't buy for a second she was sick. I think she pulled a fast one as a stick it to Kim and Lady Vols that she got her numbers up, a check, and now she's out here. ✌️

I also said mid way into the season, Gabe wasn't LOUD from the bench or doing his "ELITE" hype Instagram videos. When I brought this up here some assumed I was reading too much into it. 😶‍🌫️ Well... hmm.

Nevertheless, I figured assistant coaching changes were coming. Bill Ferrara does have a good resume when it comes to development of talent like Ty'ana Latson and Jonquel Jones. Mind you if we still can keep Edwards, who know what his development can do for her as a "4" and same can be said for Cooper and Civil.

Yal are not about to do that…in an article earlier in the year JB said it was all Kim who got her to come to TN….she was headed elsewhere and Kim called her and convinced her to come to TN!!!

Kim should also know better now than to recruit a player like Janiah. She can't handle her or utilize her properly. Like TLC says, "Stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used to."

This is std stuff for a HC on the hot seat. They fire some assistants in order to show they are making changes to right the ship. Its a one shot deal for the HC. They look better next season or the HC is out. IMO changes to the staff was needed so hopefully Kim gets it right whether Gabe was the problem or not.

He resigned no one said fired.

Why would he take a step down from Associate Head Coach to Assistant? Was the Florida State coach told to "Make some changes" after their brutally bad season? Was Ferrara slated to be one of those changes? Or is Florida State about to change head coaches?
Title isn't nearly as important as salary.

Please put the Red Bull down.
My post was in response to someone saying that perhaps this hire meant some folks in the coaching community think this system etc might work out. My point was having an assistant coach from an unsuccessful program sign on did not support that theory IMO.
The head shaking from Kim and Dawn is more like they pity the shell of a former great program we have become. Sort of like the train wreck you can not avert your eyes from. That is what is embarrassing. Nothing to do with our new assistant coach. Hopefully he is a great offensive mind.
Florida State was an unsuccessful team last year after losing the nation's leading scorer to a large financial package in the transfer portal. If you look back over the Brooke Wycoff tenure, I would not label them an "unsuccessful program."

Yeah, while I have no idea if it applies to KLU or not, I do sometimes sense that a significant number of posters here are relatively new to following Lady Vols basketball. In comparison to those of us who've been obsessed with it for 40-plus years, folks who've followed a decade or less are naturally less likely to have the same depth of knowledge about the history of the program and the fanship than those who have been adult fans/season ticket holders/supporters of the program for literally longer than they have been alive.

That said, their thoughts and opinions obviously count. It takes a village.
Yes. Do you know how I track my regular attendance at games (not following the program, actual body in seat)? Nighttrain’s Prop 48 year. Probably incomprehensible to many without research. Go Lady Vols!

Is this the best you got? This is a waste of energy on your behalf. You sound pretty desperate at this point. Before Tennessee for both coaches in this scenario his resume is easily the more impressive.
Coach Ferrara has already coached at Florida State, Florida, and St. John among others. Coach Lazo only job comparable to those three was Mississippi State. To try to discredit this coach and praise Coach Lazo as some of you do based solely on Tennessee name/success before Coach Ferrara coaches his first game at Tennessee is comical.
Wait to see how performs in this role before talking as if this guy isn’t a quality coach. His resume as I’ve said is far more complete than some of the previous coaches even beyond the current staff including Coach Lazo who is moving on that Tennessee has had in awhile.

He’s had a couple of good runs but overall, the dude is hovering the .500 line. This is the best Kim can get? To that storied and hallowed ground known as Tennessee?? Your summaries, analysis, narratives are always a great overall view of the idiocy in the world. 🤣🤣🤣. Can’t make this stuff up, mane. Ax anyone

I'm guessing that she was taking input from the two SEC experts that she hired upon taking the job. It would be interesting to find out how they advised her.

I think it definitely had something to do with him no longer having the say on who to take out of the portal and roster building. He was supposedly had total decision making of who to take out of the portal last season. The portal decisions were poor last year. Not going to down the new guy yet as i assume that he is the guy with that job now. So in seven days he is on the clock will give him a chance to see what he can do before I decide if it is what we needed.

Not snarking back but has our new asst coach been to the elite eight? I am going somewhere right now but I will try and look up later if you don’t know.

So Kim had nothing to do with her own roster decisions? She had no control over who came in? I find that hard to believe, but if that is the case, her coaching superpower is delegating everything, I guess.

That is what has been spoken by many on X and other sites. Whether they know anything who knows? What I kept hearing she has turned it all over to him.

And yet you keep typing. The posts you have made on this subject is some of the worse logic you can construct in writing. Kim has added a coach with a good resume, good reputation, and success across various stops in his career. Several people on social media attested to his coaching ability and it’s clearly a win for CKC & Tennessee.
Somehow you think I’m being proven wrong by this level of logic? I will continue to post to keep letting you do this to yourself.
Thanks in advance. The jokes write themselves when I see your responses post by post. Not many with basketball knowledge on this hire is laughing with you but I’m sure plenty are laughing at it.
