Gabe Lazo Out

I was being slightly facetious. You think she was up on his resume without Danny sliding it in front of her?
Maybe he sent a note. Hey Kim I really like your offense but i got a few ideas on how to improve it.

She is the head coach of the LVs. So she has some connections and clout these days.

She doesn't know any of these coaches it had to be someone else that has contacted this coach. It may not be Danny directly, but no way she found him and hired him the same day Gabe was leaving. Someone else is working behind the scenes.
I see that Gabe and Ferrara are following each other, maybe he made the connection.

You have no idea who Kim knows personally nor who people on her staff know and are aware of. I think much of the coaching fraternity is aware of each other. As far as things happening on the same day, I think it’s very obvious that the two things were planned for a while and not announced until both were set.

100%. Quite honestly, an AD is not going to go over a head coaches head and make a major change in her staff. That is crazy talk. If we look at this team, the most likely bet is there was some underlying tension between Lazo and Caldwell and that led to this mutual parting of ways. Let's not forger that Roman's might also be moving on soon.
My speculation is the SEC experienced coaches were less than gung-ho ho about the system.

What a gamble with recruiting though! But of course we’ll be told Gabe actually had nothing to do with it at all. Into the diminshment machine you go.

Personally, I think she feels she delegated too much on the recruiting because of the national recognition TN was receiving. I don't think she was happy with the team makeup this year and this is a reset. She knows that she has to deliver a much more competitive team this year and wants to have more control of that. Simply conjecture on my part.

Just look at the organization of it.

Boom, Gabe leaving announcement
Boom, new guy hired announcement

CKC didn't do that. CKC doesn't have these connections.
You serious Clark 🤔 looks like she had the replacement before letting Gabe go. DW don't have much to do with day to day operation or assistance coaches. He's busier with the big picture of finding all the needs for all the programs.

Jenna probably do the recruiting now kim has said herself she not good at it. But jebmnna seems dull and boring not someone to excite recruits

I know nothing about Jenna except what I've seen in one practice video before her first season in Knoxville in which she had zero interest in saying even a few words ... and then watching her on the sidelines during games. She may be great, I don't know. But my initial impression that she's super quiet and the opposite of Lazo, energy wise, has remained the same the whole two years she's been in Knoxville.

I hope someone who knows her well reads this and can assure us that she actually has the kind of outgoing, energetic, enthusiastic personality that we're going to need to have jetting all over the country successfully pitching Tennessee to recruits.

I’m sorry, did your post not just say that they were forced to let Gabe go while the new guy was available? That clearly implies new guy is an upgrade right?

others have said the exact same thing about every player now departed.

Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion that every move has been an upgrade.
I never said it was an upgrade. I said they had mutually parted ways.

Typically when that happens, a departure isn’t announced until that person finds a new job. He may end up at LSU, but it wasn’t the slam dunk that he apparently thought it was and Mulkey is going to look around before hiring anyone.

But when you need to fill the spot on your staff, there comes a point when you have to move to get the new person in place. That’s what happened. A national reporter termed it “let go.” Gabe obviously pushed back on that.

So a player from almost a decade ago and 2 players he didn’t recruit. Also coming off a 10-21 season. Upgrade!
"You can't get better without getting worse because the good is the enemy of the great and this is not a 5 year rebuild but a plan to win NOW or maybe sometime down the road or maybe never. I don't know, I'm just kinda bored with the whole thing now".

If Danny White's jacket could talk.

Before Tennessee, who are the top players Gabe recruited to other schools, I haven’t followed him so I’m curious?

Because I think a school like Tennessee will be able to get players regardless, as long as we have the money to pay.

Losing Roman or Gabe would be extremely detrimental to the program.
Genuine question, do you still feel the same way as you did a few weeks ago about losing Roman and Gabe being extremely detrimental to the program? I also want to make it clear that I’m not attacking you as I know tone doesn’t come across on here, just curious if that has changed.

Think TN can still get good players who have to be 100% dedicated to the system and the subbing? Don’t think this year did any damage?

In all seriousness, if Edwards stays on board (which looks likely), I really wonder how CKC will utilize her. I would be shocked if Coop stays (though I think that would be awesome) and I am not sure on Civil either.

So, we could have the Big O, Minus, the Pauldo twins and then a whole bunch of portal players

It seems like CKC system is really designed to be a no star system. Just keep sending in waves of cannon fodder players and hope the other side runs out of ammo first is the game plan.

She is going to have to adapt something I would hope to accommodate having a truly elite talent. If not, she will be digging her own coaching grave.
