The defense has to improve for us to have a chance on Saturday. We’ve got to be very opportunistic, and we have to get Sham on the field. We need to throw the whole kitchen sink at Bennett and hit him and confuse him and then hit him again. The OL is hardly recognizable from the ones we've had for the past several years. Opening holes for the run and good pass pro seem to have let JG settle in and just manage the game. He made several great throws today.
My biggest concern is the secondary, so hopefully we'll be at full strength on Saturday. We will have to get after their QB, or their receivers will have a big day.
It will be a nice test to see just exactly how much we have improved.
Have you not been paying attention to our receivers for the last two weeks? The young boys can fly. I think TN will stretch that UGA defense. AU had an atrocious O-line so that made it look easier for them last night. Our D yesterday was very vanilla I thought, a lot of zone probably because of the scheme. I think we will get some guys back on D to alleviate some fo the back end issues. We make UGA one dimensional we win this game. I feel their run game isn't as strong as they would like to believe. We will pressure Bennet with our LB units. I foresee To'o To'o and Deandre Johnson a monster game.My take: Bo Nix has more natural ability that JG. He scrambles well and was under siege all night. Has a better touch. Takeaway from that? AU offensive line had trouble protecting him. Maybe ours will do a little better. Also, some of the passes he threw were good, but the AU receivers had lobster hands. Our receivers are young. Not sure they can do better. UG's corner (number 3) is GOOD.
Our DL most likely won't pressure Bennet so here is where we will suck. Best to just try and outscore and run the ball. I think UGA by 2 touchdowns, unless JG plays out of his head.
I'll drink to that and your next 10 posts ......GBO !!!!If we beat the hell outta Georgia I wouldn' bE surprised at all.. They are reaching for an identity, on the cuffs of finding confidence as a team.. Vols coordinators are fixing to exploit that **** and shut it down! So far we've been adjusting to teams game plans.. F*** that is the philosophy for next week in Athens.. Give them something consistent to fear early and often! It's almost magic how I know this, but just beleive.. This roster has names more impactful than jgs subpar games.. You Will see freshman maturing Into grown ass men next week vol fans! It's great to be a tennessee vol!
Need Burrell, #4 back and work on getting #14 K.Lawrence used to playing and be more solid.Alontae has been playing lights out.
The defensive backfield has been a makeshift patchwork quilt these first two weeks. It should all settle in for real with the return of Shamburger and a healthy Thompson.
All three of these lads are exceptional. The problem we've had these first two weeks is like the boy in Holland, with 5 holes in the dike and only able to cover two hands' worth at a time. Get all three dutch boys in position, and all 5 breaches gonna be covered with ease. The synergy is when they're all on the field together.
We're gonna be solid in the backfield this coming weekend vs. UGa.
It hasn't worked out too well for them it seems to me. You guys keep saying that's all you have to do to beat TN with JG, you keep saying everyone is doing and all I see are wins racking up. Keep predicting it'll happen as I'm sure it'll be fun for you the few times it happens this year.Yep and there's not a defense in the SEC that won't take the same chance!!!
Stand by your man and twist things out of context. UT's win streak is due to us having the better all-around team probably due to better coaching and many times during this stretch it's been the defense that's kept us in these games. JG hasn't done anything heroic since he's been here. I'm pretty sure he has the losingness record in Vol history as a starter. IF he manages the game correctly this Sat. i'll be satisfied but he has a tendency to fold/collapse under pressure and UGA's coaches know that........hell 85-90 % of UT fans know that or we wouldn't comment the way we do.It hasn't worked out too well for them it seems to me. You guys keep saying that's all you have to do to beat TN with JG, you keep saying everyone is doing and all I see are wins racking up. Keep predicting it'll happen as I'm sure it'll be fun for you the few times it happens this year.
And you guys sound like the guy who took home the "whale" at the party and is running around trying to get high fives from the boys cause you "got sum"....You sound like the type of guy that finds a reason to complain after getting laid
It isn't athleticism... it is decision making. It is frustrating to constantly see qbs come in for other teams and perform right out of the gate. Meanwhile JG has played in 68 games and is still trying to learn the offense. Lol. Seriously, JG did play better today but he’s just limited physically in a lot of ways. Both Bennett and nix have much better athleticism than JG making it difficult to blitz them. They can use their legs to escape pressure and keep the play alive. JG just can’t do that. We saw several examples of that today.
