GA will eat our lunch...

Arkansas will be a tough out I really respect their DC Barry Odom the former Missouri HC. He came up with a plan to stop Leach's offense drop 8 rush 3 big part of the game. Also Kylin Hill getting knocked out of the game made MSU one dimensional that helped. But Arkansas at their place will be tougher than Vandy, UK at Neyland & Missouri out of all our games. We do owe Franks a beat down.

Uga played extremely physical both sides of the ball and at every level. The game was personal to them. Auburn never looked like they wanted it that bad. Uga won the game before the first play.

GA is a good team, it shows, regardless of who they play. It's going to be a hard fought game for sure....I would like to think a QB with 'experience" will have the edge, but we're talking about JG...so who knows. If we play next week like we did yesterday, we have a chance.
Defense, needs to work hard this week, need them to be consistantly good, all game.

I would also add State was about as flat as you can be and after a week national attention from sunrise to midnight it was impossible for them to reach a sharp level. It was very easy for Arkansas however to be sky high. I do agree that Pitt has settled things down a lot.

I agree they were flat.
Hopefully UGA will be flat after the Auburn win and National news highlighting their Fans crowded more than the SEC guidelines and seemed to go over the % limit. So administration not carrying out their duties whether you like rules or not.
Hopefully a week of distration for UGA and we eep our eyes focused.

After watching AU defense, I don't think the LB position is as fast or athletic as ours. AU did appear to have made adjustments in the half to UGA scheme. JP will have two weeks of film on UGA as well so our D will definitely be better prepared. Also, a good run offense is just as good as a defense. If we can establish our run game and keep their offense off the field then we will have the advantage. I don't know what the hype is over this kid, but I thought Bo Nix was garbage last night, JMO. Their O-line left something to be desired. I thought I was watching TN line from two years ago.

I don’t think any of us can evaluate any team in the SEC at this point in the season. Most teams have missed a lot of time in all phases of preparation for the football season. Many players are out of shape and few of the new players have not had the opportunity to learn the play book. Who knows how the next 8 games will unfold? Arkansas looked like a pretty good football team yesterday. I refuse to make bold predictions until mid season. However, I will say I am pleased with what we have seen so far from our Vols. It appears that the offense is much improved over what we have put on the field during the last 4-6 years. I think the D-line will continue to get better and be a force for the rest of the year. My biggest concerns are the LB and DB positions. As Freshmen in those positions gain knowledge and experience, we may see growth and good improvement I do believe that we are becoming a team which can again be in the mix for the titles.

UT will need a draw at worse at the LOS.

I think the OL is ready for the top level, I still have concerns about the DL. They havent played poorly, but games like this require more and this week against the best OL we ve played to date.

JG will have to be more than a game manager. He's gonna be forced to make game winning throws throughout the game and will need to connect more often than not.

Big test, but its time to see whats what.

2004 folks. 19 pt underdog to them that year. Georgia trashed LSU the week prior and appeared to do the same to Tennessee.

Didn't turn out as expected.
Slight difference: we had a future NFL quarterback starting. The only way JG gets to the NFL is if he gets a job as a scout.

Stop UGA’s run game, and we have a chance to win.

If they run on us like they did Auburn, we will fare about like Auburn did.

Load up on the run!

Auburn refuses to accept that Nix just ain’t that good.
Saying that, I hope we don’t make him look like Joe Montana in November

I think we are good enough to hang with Georgia. Keep it close, and who knows.
just on the 3rd page of this thread and this is spot on thus far and to take it further.....teams are evenly matched imo, except UGA has a slight edge at QB and secondary. Kirby took a chance on Bennett and he'll create problems. UT's secondary hasn't jelled as a unit yet due to covid, lack of practice. On the positive side UT's OLine due to being able to rotate could wear down UG's defensive front by mid 3rd qtr. UT has to keep it close, no turnovers and JG has to rise to the occasion. He did manage to make several very tight passes against Mo. and #11 can get behind any of UGA's defenders so it comes down to scheme and game planning. I don't see UT being blown-out this year but lack of practice in critical areas and Bennett being the surprise he is gives UGA a slight edge.

Team speed sure looked better than ours but other than we closer than we have been that we shall see.

I agree. Our guys are a confident bunch, they are going down there believing they will win, and we should believe too.

Whether we win or lose, GA is gonna know they got punched in the mouth next week.
Then they can limp and crawl on over to Tuscaloosa and find out how good they really are on 10/17. Reckon ol' Kirby gonna be looking ahead ?

What I was saying when the schedules originally came out. Our harder opponents (for the most part) have us sandwiched between hard games for them. GA had Auburn then us and then Alabama. May help some.

I saw the pregame for KY and AU and they gave KY more props than they did AU for positions. Not sure how they were ranked 8th. I think this should be a good game unless the breaks just don’t go our way. If the refs stay out of it, and we don’t step on our own feet, I see this game coming down to the 4th quarter. Hopefully we’ll rush and a rush and control the clock. Go Vols!!

My take: Bo Nix has more natural ability that JG. He scrambles well and was under siege all night. Has a better touch. Takeaway from that? AU offensive line had trouble protecting him. Maybe ours will do a little better. Also, some of the passes he threw were good, but the AU receivers had lobster hands. Our receivers are young. Not sure they can do better. UG's corner (number 3) is GOOD.

Our DL most likely won't pressure Bennet so here is where we will suck. Best to just try and outscore and run the ball. I think UGA by 2 touchdowns, unless JG plays out of his head.

Just because this tennessee team is led by someone who doesn't seem likely to see the NFL doesn't mean that any given Saturday this team cannot crush someone's spirits.. Georgia is subpar, Florida is only as good as two Kyle's go.. Double Pitts, blitz the ****.. You will all see a tennessee team that wants your love in these next three weeks.. Stop doubting our Boyz vol nation we are back!
I'll drink to that and the next 4-5 posts you make.......Go Big Orange !!!!!!
